Usually it takes a me the longest when I load the first map of the evening, after that I'm the first one in the map 98% of the time.  My computer usually will go straight from the end of round screen to the verifying screen and skips the other 2 50% of the time. <<< advantage Husker

AMD 4600+ 64 X2 2.4Ghz
4GB OCZ DDR400 Dual Channel 200Mhz
x2 Seagate 80GB Sata II 3GB in RAID 0
x2 7900GTX's in SLi
Edit OS: Windows XP Pro X64
I run everything at factory specs... have a nice day!

Load times are all about RAM size/speed, HD speed, CPU speed, and most importantly, texture setting ("low" massively speeds up load times).

Your video card, connection (unless you're on 56k), etc. do not affect it.

I personally wish server admins would at least change the map/round delay to something that can accomodate the other people out there.  I don't claim to be first every time but I personally dislike the fact that "the fastest computers gets to the (vehicle) first".  While it's interesting at times, would it be fair if, for example, a bunch of speedy computer users load up a map and happens to be all on the same team?  So then... what?  You end up losing the first two (maybe three) flags by the time the rest of the population gets in.  And by then, another individual could have...

A) stole the J-10
B) stole a different enemy asset (tank, jet, APC, chopper)
C) almost captured a CP that would essentially boxed/pinched the opposing team in

Petition the admins of any server you frequent to change the delay.  That way, it does not become a matter of who gets into the game the fastest... but who is lucky enough to spawn nearest to the vehicle of your choosing.  I'm willing to wait an additional 15 to 45 seconds just to ensure everyone starts at the same time than to roam around a deserted map.

I am normally one of the first 5 to join any server.
While I have a fast PC, so do my clan mates so we often get in about the same time, hence top 5.

I have

PIV 3.2
2Gb ram
6800GT
2 x WD Raptors [raid0]

You bring up a good point.  I was on a server a couple weeks back that did just that.  They had the inital spawn set to 60 seconds.  I can't remember the server though.  sorry.
I don't think you need to worry about the fast players owning the other team like you talked about.  Since most servers won't let your switch teams all these guys on fast computers will be seperated and split into the 2 teams.
