For the price it really is great performing card. The small differences in core and RAM speed cannot justify the price premium for the XTX.

Rich mans card.

Best card I've ever owned. No complaints yet.
It was too expensive for me ($580), but then so was the damn FX60. If you are on a budget then this card is not a good choice. I'll probably regret the price when I get $150 for it in six months from now, but that's the way it goes.....

lol yea but I'd go with Nvidia if my life depended on it... most of the Ati cards I've used have never satisfied me.
Either way, check out the benchmarking @ anandtech on Oblivion b4 you make a decision.

Mine sounds like a hair dryer for about 3 seconds at boot and then quiets down nicely. In fact, if I turn down my 2 120mm case fans, I can barely hear anything. God forbid if it ever spun up during a game though....cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:
teh loud, get an aftermarket fan and ur golden
I count myself lucky that my case has excellent ventilation so the 1900 fan never goes above idle except for a moment at boot.
well im nvidia man so ATI for me = doom(the drivers not the card)
It better be good I just ordered one.................
I also ordered the Arctic Cooling Accelero X2 to keep the sucker quiet.

It is definitely a decent card - though nVidia's 7900GTX beats it on every benchmark by 10-20% according to MaximumPC on a zero point system. I've owned both brands in my past 8 years of gaming, oh the glory days of Doom, and after all those years only nvidia has left an impression on me for quality and performance. Radeon drivers need a lot of help. Plus thier tech support is horrid - you have to call Canada!!
Well, I would expect the 7900GTX to beat the X1900XT. They aren't marketed against each other. The X1900XT is marketed against the 7900GT, and the X1900XTX would be marketed against the 7900GTX.twz_stryker wrote:

Also, to say that the 7900GTX beats the X1900XT by 10-20% across the board is a flat out lie. There are cases where the X1900XT was not only able to beat a 7900GTX, but a 7900GTX OC. Are there cases where the NV cards were 10-20% faster? Absolutely, but a blanket statement about 10-20% across the board is just flat out wrong.

I guess you didn't go to MAXPC to read thier article on it then, and yes i got the XT and XTX mixed up there, that was my bad, but yes it does beat the card 10-20% in all zero point tests using 3DMARK, Quake 4, Far CRY, and various other tests. Toms Hardware also has some benchmarks on this too but Tom's tends to be nVidia friendly as it is. No its not a lie - so I don't know what to tell you.Agent_Dung_Bomb wrote:

EDIT: I just read your article as well and it also shows a 10-15% performance increase over the XTX compared to the 7900GTX OC so I don't really see your point in saying it's a lie?

Where did it mention that? The numbers for the OC were in relation to the stanard 7900GTX and previous 7800 series cards. By your statement the 7900GTX/GTX OC should have won every test by that margin, and that simply was not the case.twz_stryker wrote:
