As I have said before we will be organising more themed events and this could be one of them, but I like this guys sig so if he wants a shot at organising it I'll step back.
I am inspired by public desire, so if there's a call for such an event I can try and make it work (whatever the physical difficulties). But only if asked, this isn't my gig.
As for the US troops picking up AK's, there is anecdotal evidence that this was 'common practice' in Vietnam when the early M16's were issued as they were unreliable but, yes, they were very distinctive and did (apparently) lead to confusion as to where the enemy was. As improved models were produced this stopped happening.
I have no great source of information here but have heard it from several places, so it must be true .
