  • Questions about LCD resolution and impressions on VX922?

I'm looking at buying the Viewsonic VX922, largely in part to good customer reviews and a great reccommendation from Tomshardware.com. I love love love my 19" CRT but it's having issues and showing its age so I'd like to upgrade to a LCD.

But I have two questions for all of you. First off, do any of you have this monitor? What are your experiences with it, especially in relation to BF2?

Second of all, I'm concerned about its resolution. Its native res is 1280x1024 but I currently run BF2 at 1024x768. Does this monitor downscale well to that res? Also, my normal desktop res is 1600x1200. Will this monitor run that resolution at all or is its max resolution equal to its native resolution?

As you can tell I don't know a heck of alot about LCDs but hopefully you all can help out. Thanks!!

I nearly got either that or the VX924 but went with the LG1920 and love it.  I saw nothing really wrong with the 922 though.  Check the brightness and contrast ratio, I can't remember what it is.

you shouldn't have any probs running @ 1024x768. lcd's do run best at their native res but i've run my 17 lcd (native res 1280x1024) @ 1024x768 no probs before i upgraded my vid.  and also the native res is the max so you'll have to scale down your desktop

your desktop res will have to be the native res of the monitor or you will notice serious quality issues.  The games, however, can work independant of that.

One company you should look at is Rosewill.  I have the R912E 19" LCD, got it on sale at newegg so I had no clue how it was going to perform. I couldnt ask for anything better. It is crisp, bright and has awesome response time-no ghosting at all. After mail in rebate i think i paid $210(us) for it, price is down now,$165 after mail in rebate!
