Not true, they have a modified 747 that has a lazer that runs the lengh of it and the first one should be finished in 2008. It will be deployed in global hot spots.kr@cker wrote:
these are smaller systems designed for AA missiles and used on larger planes like B-52's, C-5's, even AF-1, ones that can't flare/chaff/jink on cue like a fighter can, if you find a pic of a B-52 you can see it alot better than on the other craft, as on a 52 they're mounted in the tail where the old .50's and 7.62 tailguns used to, be but they're not set up for ICBM's.*TS*tphai wrote:

Bush publicly mentioned a ballistic missile protection system today on Larry King, does anyone think the first missile's faliure could have been controlled? There is currently an airborne antiballistic system that I know of that consists of a fucking jumbojet with a big laser on the nose, don't know much more than that, or if it was put in a sat.
Another note, many of the world's ICBM's use multiple warheads (not sure about the Taepodong, haven't read up much on it), which split up and scatter to different targets once the missile reaches the zenith of it's flight path and starts it's descent, meaning that it's practically a necessity to pop the delivery vehicle (ICBM) while on it's ascent. Which would be nearly impossible without an orbiting platform from which to launch an interceptor, as an interceptor launched from a land based platform would have to play "catch-up" to intercept a missile already launced by as much as 5 minutes, maybe more before it is a confirmed ICBM launch.

I though he was referring to the ones already in use, this big one's effectiveness is in question because of the time involved getting one off the ground and it's slow speed, I'm only going according to scuttle-butt being circulated around the base, I'll have to look it up and read more, but if it's the one I think it is, it's to be used as a multiple pronged defense strategy in conjunction with gound, sea, and space based interception methods. Is it going full active or just being tested in 2008? I'm at work and can't surf much.
There's cold logic behind the reason why the US doesn't. As of now, the fighting is focused away from our shores. Maybe it's insensitive to the rest of the world, but there you have it.BornToKill67 wrote:
Yea, me too the U.S should just pull out of Iraq and focus on their defence.
Im pretty sure the first ones gonna be full active in 08 but not positive on that.kr@cker wrote:

so here's what USA should do: put up a shitload of really big mirrors in space, and build a giant laser that uses chemical sludge somewhere in Alaska or something and then just use that? The ultimate armchair accessory
i want the joystick!!
In the event that a missile attack occurs, anti-ballistic missiles will be deployed and a counter-attack will ensue. Doing anything beforehand is an act of war, and we will be the agressors, not NK.
I agree that they are using this all as a scare tactic, possibly in order to gain technology offers from the U.N. just like Iran received a few weeks ago. Personally, I just feel that being extremely aggressive towards NK to the point of shooting down anything they launch and destroying their launching sites will end extremely badly...especially from collateral damage to Japan, South Korea, and Russia.

TAPODONG Is coming for ya!
With the knowledge of their initial tests being aimed at Russia, Japan, and Hawaii, I believe all three are well within their rights to launch preemptive strikes on these launch sites as an act of self preservation. Who knows when there will be a nuclear launch? We also know that our missile defense system does not have a good record of interception. The last two failed to launch.Marconius wrote:

the issue isnt USA dont attacking them, the real one is the people of NK dont attacking his goverment, because they dont have anything to eat but his goverment is wasting the money in missiles.
and lo his lips parted, and truth came with his breath
Nah. As soon as we would go into NK, all the anti-war tits would run to the newspapers saying there's no wmd there either and Bush would be a liar again. It's all bullshit politics.Poseidon wrote:

And I'm starting to wonder why the fuck we spent so much on Iraq qhen the REAL threat - military threat - is North Korea.
Speaking that there was CONCRETE PROOF that NK had weapons, but not Iraq. Good job, Bush.
Of course, if NK fired ANY missle from us, our deflectors from space would shoot them down and we'd nuke NK.
Wrong. That project is nearing cancellation. Way over budget with little results.Capt. Foley wrote:

The real missile defense is the new missile systems the U.S. has and patriot missiles in the south korean area.
That little North Korean dude is cool. He kinda looks like a little Elvis. I hope all North Koreans are like him, going to war against them would be kinda like being at a midget Elvis impersonator convention.
Anyways, I don't think he is mad persae. He just doesn't want the world to forget that he is still around. Maybe he should just get more face time on the news for being himself instead of having to shoot off missles. I mean, he was pretty funny in that Movie with Matt Dameon.
Alex Baldwin should go talk to him. Everyone likes Alex and he just makes sense.
