The best is Colonel. The bird is a large deviation to the bars of the Lts., Capts., Majors, and the other cluster ranks. Colonel is actually the oldest rank dating back to Roman times which I think is pretty cool also.

The worst is Master Sarge. The in-game pic of it is too bunched-up to be cool looking at all.

While this is dumb it may have been done on purpose. The Sergeant Major of the Corps is a desk job in the Pentagon and therefore not meant for the person to be in the field.
