I like the idea of an inf ONLY map. And I like the idea of creating a new gameplay mode (we only have conquest and co-op now).
But the way it has been done this time looks... well. Bad....

On an inf only map, a few snipers and a support guy can hold ANYTHING, just put down clays, respluy. Repeat ad libitum.

Keep in mind that this is NOT an argument that hold for existing CONQUEST gamplay mode, so dont knock it if you dont know what I'm talking about. Conquest will probably change also, I'm just bitching about the INFANTRY gamplay mode here.

IMO IF dice wants to make infantry mode as an option they need to consider a few things:
1) Claymores should be destructible again (for infantry mode only).
2) The currently proposed health increase is WAY too much. They should increase the firepower of (at least SOME) weapons if they want it in.
3) Some maps will be unplayable as "infantry mode". Especially the large ones. Infantry mode CANNOT be played on maps whith carriers etc. The number (and sizes) of maps that can be played in infantry mode must NOT include all the current maps.
4) There SHOULD ALWAYS be an uncap on ANY MAP in inf mode. It's too hard to win without an uncap even in conquest mode. Now it's just rediculous.


If they want to add a new gameplay mode, I'd much prefer that they do Flagball, or Team King of the Hill or something like that instead. I know it's tough to do ranked for scoring purposes, but then give us one UNRANKED, I dont care. Conquest is getting boring, and the currently proposed "infantry" mode is just plain..... Bad.

DICE should do following things for their Infantry Only Mod:

- leave the Hitpoints, Weaponsettings, Stamina as they're in regular BF2 V1.3
- remove Vehicles, mounted MGs, Artillery, Cardrops

With these changes they'll make many people happy, rather than the actual Infantry Only Mod that's just disappointing.

And now to your topics:

3.) People should have the option (decide) to play Infantry Only on maps like Clean Sweep, Dalian Plant or what ever large map they would like to (Even if it won't be as good as on Sharqi, Karkand, Mashtuur, Jalalabad, all SF maps).

4.) Why should there be an uncapturable Base on any map in Infantry Only mode? I play a lot of Infantry Only on Mashtuur, Gulf of Oman, Kubra Dam and they don't have uncaps and you can still win the game.

I got a simply solution if you cannot win the game if there is no uncapturable Base: Improve your and your teammates Skill!

I agree. +1 for the sig btw I laughed so hard. I love soccer but its soo true how the guy dives after the tackle haha.

i say that stat padding will be higher than ever since now they gave what the stat padders want and now the people that play by the rules has no choice caus eprobablr when official 1.4 is out 1/2 servers may have stat padding

No.. Their ROE states that you can't have Infantry Only servers, where you disallow people to use tanks that are ready and available. This game mode doesn't make tanks and cars and the like available to use, therefore they aren't technically breaking their own ROE.

EA wants to include an Infantry Only aspect to BF2 and BFROE posts on their website essentially that "Knife and Pistol" severs are equivalent to stat padding.  That's not a conflict of interest...no.  I got it, how about a "24/7 Glitcher" Server or better yet, a "24/7 Non-crashing, Non-Lagging, Non-Buggy BF2" server.  Yeah that would be swell.

I personally think they should just tone down the health boost a bit, because sometimes the random headshots across the map from an L85A1 are just plain annoying...
And why can't they take out car drops, leave in cars, and leave mounted MG's.
Or, give classes like the AT and Engy more of a health boost than others so they are more like the melee unit of BF2? I think it at least sounds like a good idea on paper...

With all due respect the current implementation of the Infantry Mode is prone to many serious balance issues (i.e. Medics will be godly while Engineers will be useless). 

Perhaps what the community wants is actually a vehicle-lite option like this (not as restricted as fierce's idea):

o Replace Tanks/APC spawns with Heavy Jeeps 
o Replace AA vehicle spawns with Light Jeeps 
o Remove Jets 
o Replace Attack helicopters with Transport helicopters (i.e. USMC carrier on Wake Island 2007 would have 3 Blackhawk spawns) 
o On AF maps replace Attack helicopters with a Littlebird (not sure about this one)

That's it.  See transport vehicles reduce the time necessary to get into the action.  This is also what separates BF2 from say CS:Source.  By keeping transport vehicles in it will make people much happier than waiting 30 seconds to respawn each time they die only to get revived and die immediately to restart the 30 second timer. 

Please consider this simple mode instead of the current implementation.

All they need to do is remove attack vehicles: armour/jets/choppers

Remove MG emplacements from cars/transport choppers

Keep the health and stamina the same as normal play.

Thats all they need to do.

It won't change anything between the balance of the classes and i can't agree with your statement that engineers are useless. An average Engineer will mow down everyone in CQC, always remember: Shotguns are amazing deadly.

Ever played against an prone spamming Engineer?

AT rocket duels are fun.   They make for very akward firefights.  But, like everyone else, I'd like to see normal damage.

If they do this it must have it's own Infantry Only Mode ranking system outside of BF2 or they violate their own ROE, and if they do role this out it will invalidate the ROE too. This IO Mode concept leaves the current BF2 data integrity compromised.


Classes usefullnes in the IO Mode

1. Medic = godly healing badges. they need to make it so you trip over the 10,000 healing packs littering the field and revives will go down
2. Support = godly ammo badges Same As Above
3. Engineer = useless - unless they give him AP mines or shovels and sandbags, sounding like Far Cry. Maybe he can place .5 kt nuclear cratering charges?
4. Assault = welcome back
5. Spec Ops = not sure unless they allow him to place 10 C4 on players who run into the enemy and explode
6. Sniper = god emporers
7. AT = lol I can just see 20 RPGs in flight being fired like a musket volley in 1812, ready aim fire! reload
8. Commander - lol he will be provided an Ice Cream truck to drive around in

I think they should be destructible, period. I use them a lot and I still think so - if someone is careful, skillful or lucky enough to see one in time there should be a way around them. On the other hand I'm not sure if this should be the same for C4 and AT mines, part of me thinks yes and part no.

Increased firepower (bullet wounding) would negate the changes. They should just not make any changes!

Yeah, it's like the guys in EA/Dice have never heard of the many wrinkles to team-based warfare games. Team KOTH can be an amazing game. Not sure about flagball/capture the flag with vehicles involved but hey, I'd give it a shot!

Yeah! Why the hell did they think they needed changing just because there happen to be no vehicles? They've obviously never paid attention to the old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it. I suspect it's because of concerns about the domination of snipers but there are other things they could have turned their attention to for crying out loud and people could adapt, just like you have to when there's a Vodnik gunner in your path, or an APC capping a flag etc. etc.

Why remove mounted MGs? I don't really care much either way, just curious. They've never seemed much of a problem to me, as long as you have at least one sniper handy or a good shot with something else.

I honestly have not noticed one improvement since 1.12 except for allowing FF to be turned off for claymores and mines. I can't wait until I am officially unemployed next month so I can try out that two versions thing.
