BF2S Forums Sniper effectiveness doubters look here...

I think after reading the whole thread (wtf?) i can say this entire "x-kit is better than y-kit"-bullshit is pointless.
Why? Cause you cant pursuade someone else who eg. likes to play sniper of playing anti-tank from that point on. Its simply stupid. I like Assault - you like Engineer. So let it be. Everybody in the team killing opponents is somehow useful for the team. What would the game be about if everyone would play sniper or medic? Would be like CS dont you agree?

I still cant beleive people cant grasp the fact that Kark is a perfect map for sniping... wow... I've had some of my best snipe rounds at Kark.

Oh yeah and Sniper over Medic

I help the team when Im sniping.  But if it appears we are in need of a greater help, I'll switch kits.  I can hold my own when sniping CQs. 

I think the only problem with snipers = growing popularity.  I mean everyone wanted to be a sniper growing up.  Its just cool to pick people off and theyre like wtf hax.  Lets say for example there are 1000 snipers.  Maybe 100 of those snipers can really use the kit effectively (capping flags, working together, spotting, etc.).  But thats still 900 other snipers who cant.  Thats still 900 snipers who afk on top of a hill in hopes of seeing an enemy come by and are pretty much scope candy.  900 snipers who give the 100 snipers a bad name.

Thats pretty much how I see our situation on the forums/battlefield.  Im a sniper.  Sure Im not up to the quality and experience as some of them, but theres always room to learn.

Only when people start to see the kits, and I mean ALL of them, useful for their own unique abilities that they offer, will many people start to realize that they're all good.  Until you see this, you're never gonna realize your full potential in the game, IMO.

It's fine to root for your preferred kit, but to even begin to think that one kit is useless is a sign of ignorance and blind foolishness.

Just some food for thought.

Karkand is brilliant to snipe on.... and 4+ K : D is quite possible even given a very aggressive (and flag capping) mentality....

Snipers on the other hand are solitary, the ones that do play for the team are annoying and bunny hop, dolphin dive everywhere (apart from The ss bros as far as i know) Thus making snipers the most annoying assholes alive.

The most sad thing when i help my team as sniper is that my team will not be able to see it: all friendly tanks, assets saved from specops, ppl who wasn't knifed, Igla/stingers users that i shot before they take down full blackhawk and all this kill assists i have.

Sometimes i hear "Thanks champ" after helping my teammate and this is more valuable for me than all this forum speak.

Oh you mean even when you're one of the top scorers or when you have the best KDR by a freakin' mile??? Sheesh, some people just can't accept a fact when it's right in front of their noses. Yeah, that's it in a nutshell. Sniper is not the only class: spec ops don't get kudos for humping their way on foot across half the map to take out the enemy commander's toys; nobody sees when a carefully-placed mine takes out someone on their way to cap a rear flag, and so on.

I agree which is why I make a point of thanking guys who actually do go to the trouble of helping you when you're in need (even sometimes before you ask). Every now and then you'll get medics, and even support, go the extra mile and climb a ladder or go up a few flights of stairs to drop you health or ammo. Now that's teamwork too.

Why do you have to post a screenshot of you, as a sniper, getting a gold star. Gold star means nothing, I have a million. Getting a gold star doesnt mean snipers are a good kit it doesnt mean snipers help the team. It just means sniping sucks and you have to show bf2s a screenshot of one of your rare gold stars to prove to us that sniping is useful.

I think one of the main reasons is people think sniper is the easiest kit.  And IMO, it is.  Why you ask?  For me its simple, you don't die that much.  You don't have to rush to a flag and deal with the world coming down on you.  You can just sit back and pick people off, that's why I do it sometimes.  If I am having a really bad round and getting killed every minute, than I will switch to sniper for some "peace and quiet."
