bf2 will not play, and out of ideas.

sup all,
need some help here. last Sunday the wife was out of town so i had a play-o-thon. well bf2 was fine until i logged out. now when you log in i get stuck on the logging to account server, and no further. now i called my cable provider to see whats up, and i have been talking with ea with no success. now i have uninstall ed the game reinstalled it, well i think i have tired everything (i think). i even reformatted to a vanilla windows, with only windows up dates and still the same problem. any ideas please or is this a possible nforce4 problem I'm hearing about?

have someone u know try to login under your id from another computer see what happens.
did u setup the ports for the firewall in your router?

well i didn't have any problems at all, then it just stopped working on line. i have a switch with no fire wall, and i was using zone alarm at the time. now I'm on windows firewall, do you know the ports to open?

so do you add these one at a time and name it, i see how to add a port but have never done it.

When you reformatted did you start with a fresh profile or did you put you old profile back.

Try the following. Create a new fresh account (for test sake). See if you can log in with that one. If you can, the problem lies with you profile, If you cannot, your problem lies with BF2 itself or your hardware (bad blocks on your HDD).

You do not need to open ports for BF2 (atleast I did not have to) on your router.
If you do a fresh install (windows and all, get the newest drivers for you vidcard and soundcard and chipset).

If it was your profile, just retreive your BF2 account and put your settings the way they were.

Did something strange happen during your BF2otron?

Windows Firewall does not block outgoing ports so you do no need to open any ports unless you were to host a game server where users need to connect to you. How long have you let it sit there at the login screen? Mine takes a while but eventually logs in. I also turn off my virus scanner while playing as it increases the spead at which the game loads. (just don't forget to turn it back on!)

Also you can try auto login by adding this

to the shortcut, see if it then works

Ever opened BF2 in the debug or windowed mode ? And have you tried it before installing all the patches ?

It may work again after a while... The problem may be in the account server
