I don't know if this is due to the latest patch, but I can not seem to change my video settings.

Even if I change the settings there is no "optimizing of shaders" during loading of a server and the look off the game does not change.

Anyone else have this problem?

Any ideas?

try cleaning the cache folder to force it to re-optimise. to do this go to..

Documents and Settings\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

& delete everything INSIDE the cache folder,DO NOT delete the cache folder itself just everything in it.
next time you load a map it'll re-optimise everything, also a good idea to do this after updating gfx drivers.
hope this helps.

Yes this worked.  I don't see a big difference appearance, but it definitely optimized the shaders like before.  I might play with taking the resolution to 800x600 to see if it gets worse.  It has been so long that my eyes may be playing tricks on me.

I reset the video to 800x600 and it really looked crappy.  I guess i am just spoiled to the higher resolutions and got used to them.

This does not explain why when changing the resolutions I got no optimization of shaders, but that does not matter.  Your idea got it fixed.

Thanks!

i run mine on 1024x,couldnt go no lower than that without edges starting to look bit too rough lol.

glad to have helped anyway, least you got it sorted.
laterz.

forgot to say you could always try changing vid setting manualy in the config file.

Documents and Settings\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001  <or whatever number profile your using if you got more than 1 account saved.

open the file video.con & change the end value between 1,2,3 for low, med, high.
to be safe copy & paste the video.con file to another folder so you have a backup just incase.

never know, something might be screwed up in the game options & not saving your settings.
