Not sure why this happens, but my system32 folder opens up on startup. Its rather annoying to close it everytime i turn on the computer, and I'm not sure if any problems will arise because it does this. I just want it to not open up on startup.
Hooray for fast results!

get "Hijack This" and you can regulate what starts/opens when you start your computer...
even the system32 folder?
should work...keep posting if it doesn't... Otherwise search google...
i would say so too ... something is trying to start up. remove everything that cant be identified and you should be ok.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
Check your startup folder, Start - All Programs - Start Up.
You can also check your startup at msconfig. Start - Run - msconfig & click Ok - Startup tab. Read through the list and it may be in there. (Though I wouldn't know how it got there)

Failing that, goto
Start
Run
msconfig
Start Up
Here you will find all programmes trying to open on startup. Stop all the ones you dont recognise, then trial and error to start the ones you want to keep.
Dont worry, you cant break it, just check the box again if you want it to run.

Darn, someone beat me, lol.
If you need help getting there let me know, I will run you through your registry files.

i had this exact same problem, but I don't remember exactly what caused it. I will try to find the solution I used, I think there was a setting in the registry... I dunno.
Edit:
here we go, directly from microsoft... this should solve your problem

Steam's data value is nonexistent, could that be the problem?

I only messed with the Registry Editor when tweaking bf2 (thanks boris), but i'm going out on a limb here and changing a data value (for steam)
What does putting the value data in quotation marks mean?
