hey  - sorry for hijacking this topic but I have pretty much the same question...

got a gigabyte k8nf9-u (i think thats PC 3200) and I want 2 gig with the 2x 1024 option

the ram should be located somwhere between good and top performance - what would you guys recommend? I think Corsair and kingston might be nice but then again they also have so many different types of ram and I dont really know how much the timings matter and how good the OC possibilites are - would be greatful if anyone could enlighten me

Agreed.  Crucial is a stable choice, but no longer the enthusiast performance RAM it once was.

does those look like a good buy?

Corsair DIMM XMS Kit 2048MB PC3200 DDR CL2-3-3-8-1T (PC400) (2x 1024) - they are around 190 € which is an okay price I guess

Dude, I've built a LOT of gaming PC's, and I swear by OCZ ram, for gaming performance and overclocking potential. I love their platnium series ram, think its totally worth the extra 20 or so it costs.... SO STABLE!!!

anyway, Newegg has it for $220 with a $30 MIR Linky. Its PC4000, timed at 3-3-2-8 out of the box. You can pricewatch it for the same price if you don't like newegg, too.

Yeah, OCZ is good for overclocking. As is G.Skill. Kingston...definitly not.
