if you're like me then you realize that the rpk74 is superior to both the pkm and the mg36. in terms of intemediate range putdown power, nothing mixes in damage with accuracy like the rpk. ive blasted away at people for 3-6 burst of pkm only to catch a l85 round in the face to feel that this unlock is anything special. sure, if the pkm rounds actually catch your target they'll tear him up but it is rare if they do.
I do agree that the RPK-74 is a superiour weapon to the PKM, but only under certain circumstances.
The RPK is very useful in up-close battles, but loses accuracy over distance, this is were the MG-36 and PKM gain ground. But then again the RPK vs SAW in convinced spaces is also a different sum.
It all depends on skill and surroundings. It has nothing to do with the weapon.
If you give a new player a RPK or PKM he is gonna miss, no mather what weapon you provide him with.
But thinking off the role as a support infantry, you don't need a weapon that is great up-close, you need to stick behind your teammates, resupplying them with ammo as they take out the enemy force.

also, the ak 101 is the best gun ever. i know that there are other threads singing its praise but what the hell, i only have 1 karma anyway so take it away. i cannot wait for this gun. I think the mec got a little loving from dice when it came to stock guns and i couldnt love it more.
Again I agree, the AK-101 is a great weapon, but again under certain conditions.
Take maps like SF:The Iron Gator, where there are large aircraft bays and tight hallways. Now when you encounter, let's say an engineer, in that open space, you'll have no problem evading his M11-87, SK-12 or MK3A1. But stumbling upon these weapons in confined spaces is a whole different ballgame.
As USMC I have counter numerous teammates that did find out the strength of the AK-101, only to see there death avenged by a teammate who gave the enemy attacker a 12" breathing hole.

Yeah, some of the standard-weapons are really good.
Everyone who picks the F-2000 over the AK-101 has clearly missed something and the semi-auto-snipers are awesome if you know how to use them correctly.
Why would someone pick the F2000/GL over a AK-101/GL? I'd go for the scope on top of the F2000, but then again, I am a big fan of the SCAR-H which others hate.
Conclusion; It is all a mather of personal taste!
