On my next badges list it says ...

"Next Rank: Master Sergeant
You are not yet eligible for the advanced rank of First Sergeant because you are missing the awards: Basic Knife Combat Badge, Basic Pistol Combat Badge, Basic Sniper Combat Badge, Basic Support Combat Badge, Basic Medic Combat Badge."

Note that this is for the rank of 'Master Sergeant', and says for 'First Sergeant' - I'm sure it's just a typo, but I thought I'd mention it.

... Im not sure if im reading you right but if i am, your wrong... at 20,000 pts you either get  Master sergeant or first seargent, First seargent being the better one...

You need all the basic badges for the First Srgt. Rank...

In other words, if u dont get those badges before u get 20,000... your stuck with Master Sergeant...

No no, i think what I said was completely misunderstood, probably my fault for not explaining it. It says the next rank is for "MASTER SERGEANT" and then says not eligable for "FIRST SERGEANT" for the same rank these should both read "MASTER SERGEANT" probably a typo.

Is that clearer?

No, you misunderstood.

Once you get Gunnery Sergeant, it BRANCHES off. Meaning the next rank you will get after Gunnery Sergeant will either be Master Sergeant OR First Sergeant.

You can't get both, their both equal, but you only get First Sergeant provided you have all the basic badges before you reach 20,000 points. If you do not have them all when you get 20,000 points, you will be a Master Sergeant instead of First Sergeant.

Get it?

Staff Sergeant
Gunnery Sergeant
Master Sergeant -OR- First Sergeant
Master Gunnery Sergeant -OR- Sergeant Major

So, again, it's just letting you know that your rank will be Master Sergeant when you hit the conditional branch unless you get the basic badges.

Yea...you don't need ALL the basic badges, just the basic COMBAT ones.
