BF2S Forums Interview with Global Community Manager of DICE.

He said that somewhere between 10000 and 50000 people would be invited to try out the open beta for BF2142 but failed to say who would be invited.  I'm thinking maybe the top 5000 BF2 players, 3000 clan members (like those in Code7 who play purely for clan matches and don't pub often) and then 2000 randomss who don't fall into either category?

I like what he said about the direction they're heading with this patch.  Instead of worrying about introducing new features, they just want to get everything right.  They're happy with how the game should be right now, it's just a matter of getting it to play how they want it to.  Overall, a good interview.  I enjoyed it.

One other interesting point was that you will need to decide if you want to spread your unlocks across all classes, or devote them to a particular class.  The former would mean more versatility across the classes while the latter would speed the ability to get to the really cool stuff in a particular class more quickly.  I like the fact that there will be some planning involved as to how you like to play the game.  Some of the unlocks were interesting as well, such as adding a larger sprint bar.  So we will be seeing unlocks that are not weapon oriented.

yeah, its a select beta....the guy is a tool if you ask me.  Its sad that the guys in this meeting, are the ones that DICE listens to about stuff that needs changing....nothing important like fixing server crash, game crash......only thing mentioned about patch 1.3 was the squad hopping part......lame asses

They've been saying that since 1.12. The only improvement since then has been the option to turn FF off for mines and claymores.

Hey buddy, I searched "Dice Interview".  You put EA Interview on TV, which it wasn't, because DICE and EA are different.
