yep get the ram, I did that and made a huge difference ( running 3 gigs ), but of course 1.3 patch doesn't help either but it just crashes ,,,,,,,,, bump up the ram

lol, yeh

Also: 1.3 won't help.

The biggest cause of choppy game play is insufficient memory or a bad internet connection (check your ping)

It's more likely to be your connection than you machine.

Lower Graphics Settings? And Yes, More RAM, More RAM would make it so you dont have to Lower Settings.

I usually get lag while playing SF, especially flying the choppers on Surge and running around on Warlord.

Ive got a bad overheating problem with my video card (Radeon X700 Pro) and get VPU recover errors and massive video lag in game.

in other threats they say ram is the solution! i ot an p4 3ghz, 1 gb of ram, nvidea 7900gt. i still got lag, even with the 7900gt so i asked why on these forums:

jam3z said:
BG of RAM will make you run, load and verify client data faster because there is more memory, the more RAM you have the more textures the game can load into the memory.

The reson you lag at 1GB is because the game connot load all the textures into memory as there is not enough of it so it has to load them from the harddrive, as a hard drive has slower tansfer speed then RAM this will make you lag.

Solution upgrade to 2GB and turn of windows page file, you will notice a hug differnce.

I upgraded from 1GB - 1.5GB - 2BG it used to take me 1min 30secs to load a on medium settings at 1GB, then about 1min on 1.5GB on medium.  Then i finally got the 2GB and i load in about 36secs with all high settings, but i have 2 rapter hard drives in RAID0 aswell so thats probably why.

2GB will make you game run alot smoother, load alot faster and look alot better, its well worth the upgrade as it will boost windows performance, application performance and performance in other games aswell.

Everyone that has said an increase in RAM would help is correct.

But it could very well not be your problem.

First.
When you start playing on a server, before you spawn, type in the following console command use caps and spaces as shown.

renderer.drawFps 1

This will display your frames per second [FPS] and milli seconds between frames in the top left corner. The first number must be above 25 or above or you will have huge issues. If it is below 40 then start lowering the video setting, so that when a lot is going on your FPS will not drop too low.
A 6800 should be able to run most setting on high, but this way you know if your card is struggling.

Second.
Keep an eye on your in game ping. The lower the better. If your ping is below 100 then you should be fine.
If your ping is consistently above 150 then try to play on servers that are geographically closer to you, or, make sure that your internet connection is not running lots of other applications [browsing the web, or even downloading should not be a big deal, but P2P or file sharing programs are a big no no].

Third.
This is related to the ram issue. BF2 loads the map, and all the objects [like vehicles and guns and people] into ram and pagefile [pagefile = hard disk pretending to be RAM]. This takes up around 1.5Gb of memory. If BF2 is playing off the data in RAM and then needs to find some info in the pagefile, you may get slow down or lag while the game access the data from the slower hard disk.

I hope this info help man.
If you want any more info, PM me.
