So we can actually get real news not left or right wing propaganda. I'm reading "1984" again right now and it's true what he writes, "he who controls the present, controls the past". So I'm probably going to be called a lefty for this, but we need a non profit that will not be bought out by the Repubs or Dems.

Your thoughts?

this has been tried, we ended up with NPR, which almost mirrors Moveon.org word for word

Ahhh that sucks, NPR? was it all angles of the news such as T.V. paper, and internet? because I've never heard of it. I hate to say it but when watching the BBC you get a much better idea of what's going on in the world then our news.

Nah we need people who don't just look at one side of the news. We need people like me who will watch 3 or 4 news stations before I make any judgments. Hell books are good too.

Yeah but then you just get bits and pieces of what may or may not be real I watch Fox, CNN, and BBC(which I said before is probably the most accurite)

Ive been using this site every since I got sick of the shit in papers.

After reading 1984 id recommend "Brave New World" to complete the whole "there watching me/the worlds gone super facist!". There both great books, I love Orwell!

Exactly if want a accurate non biased news the BBC is the way to go. On BBC News 24 they often have segments from the American news (not sure which one) and I'm amazed at the way in which the news is presented to American audiences.

it's a theoretically good idea but will not work. We live in a capitalistic world and as  they say: money makes the world go round. The news is always influenced by the rich and powerful.

The best thing we can do (thanks internet) is to try to hear the storys from all perspectives and to make our own opininons.

Example If it wernt for the internet, i would believe that all troubles of the world are caused by the us, as told to us by out "independet" government owned TV stations. Luckily i can also see what a pro-us press has to say. Therefore i know that, while the US has made faults, it is not the devil in the world, but in fact is actually fighting for a good cause (even if whashington tends to mess up real bad)

or at least that is my oppinion (BTW: this might sound pretty leftish, but in fact i am more pulled towards the right side of the spectrum, even though i have many liberal viewpionts)
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I've never listened to NPR (radio! what century is this?), but according to this their listeners can at least tell their arse from their elbow.

Here in the states we have a serious trust issue with our government. That relatively small details are not brought out to the general public that would make alot of the conspirisy theory's non existant. So questions get raised due to bad news sorces and we just look stupid as a people.
