what sort of wireless roughter have you got?
i have a shit dvd drive took me over an hour to load the damm game on, but now its on its fine.
all your other new stuff should be ok, also when your using your machine you will be able to stick the seetings to high but you might want to put them on medium it speeds up loading time.

i forgot what its called but i have the pc connected to it by ethernet and the wireless i use for the 360 and psp/ds, so if you can connect the pc to it by ethernet cable just abit more reliable.xtrem3_4c3_4 wrote:

What's "ff" when it's at home?? Only thing I know is FF is friendly fire and we don't control that, that's the server.

oh, i see now, very helpful, i will change all my settings to NOT SHIT, and see if thats better. If only i had thought of that before.
To answer your earlier question, AA is antialiasing. Basically, if your gun is black, and the sky is blue, AA will make the pixels on the edge of your gun a mix of the two making everything nice and smooth looking.
Unfortunately this uses a massive amount of GPU processing power and will lower your FPS dramatically. In short, try having it on, but if things are really jerky, turn it off. You're not missing anything.
The basic thing you need to ask yourself is, do I want BF2 to be really pretty, or do I want to be able to play the game.

Seriously, it's usually the RAM if something is lagging, or probably if your processor is slow enough like my 2.2, or if you use that horribly slow laggy DSL(because you fell for James Earl Jones on the Verizon commercials, lol).

I occasionally get lag spikes when whole swathes of people using my phone exchange (or ISP's exchange) decide to download porn movies at the same time but last night there were times when every player on a 32-person server had pings in excess of 200. Aside from that, as far as what you can do to reduce lag, move closer to your telephone exchange (if you're on ADSL) or use a server that's closer to your home. Alternatively, find a server that has weird routing on t'internet that avoids the major hubs (the ones that get clogged by people downloading porn (or whatever)).
