Who uses gmail to compose and send email via mail.google.com? I say its a fine email but i have a question. Whats that chat thingy at the left hand side for? It sometimes says we have a technical problem and reconnects in 5 secs and We're back. I have my friend wanting to chat with me too. So is it a chat program plugged in into the email??

I use it too, i'm not really sure either. It's probably an in-window chatting system or something.

Yes, it's a built-in IM. Instead of downloading google talk, you can chat from within gmail. I use it all the time. Gmail rocks.

I use Gmail all the time it is great. It is still invite only, that brings me to a question. Someone invited me, when I joined I was allowed 2 invitation. How can I get more?

As of right now, I've got 98 invites left. mporlier, I'm not really sure how you can get more invitations. I started with 6 almost 2 years ago and used them up right away. Then one day I logged in and had 100. My guess is that the more you use your gmail and promote it, the more invites they will give you.

Of course, invites aren't exclusive anymore. Anybody with a cell phone and can get an invitation code via sms.

It holds a ton of stuff two. 2 and 1/2 GB of Memory and growing. They have to use Petabytes of Hard drive space just on their server to do it. Petabyte=1024 Terabytes.

I got a gmail invite from a clanmate years ago. Since then I've used it countless times and probably given out 200+ invitations. It's also nice to be able to send more invites to yourself, so I established separate gmails for public, private, and the inevitable hordes of spam. Much better than when I used Yahoo.
