Personally, I think that the stats are only truly useful to the person whom they belong to. I say this because stats are inherently tied to playstyle, which unfortunately is not a tracked item.
I can see why my stats are what they are because of how I play, the only people I can say the same for are the people who I play with regularly (i.e. knowing their style).
When I apply other's standards to my stats, I'm usually appalled.
Of course through the stats blinders I cannot see me rushing the flags to get the 4 pts instead of 2, only getting in tanks to take out another tank who's been putting a beating on our inf, attacking aforementioned armor afficionado with SRAW/Eryx, trying to fight back the J10 fury in the F35B, etc.
I think if you are to judge another players stats most of the above combined approaches work well, like primarily looking at weapon stats while taking into account maps and capture/assist/defends, and of course - Play with/against the player.
Until EA makes it possible to achieve the same detail in the stats on a per map basis, that's as close are we're going to get to true statistical analysis.
Quick note on the Karkand/Sharqi whore issue. Everyone dogs on people who have those maps in their top 3, but a quick sampling (this thread and a clickable stats link under their name) suggests that 80% play "only" that map. Extrapolating, this means that most peoples' stats are useless?
And the winner of the "Getting Your Money's Worth" Award goes to Voltage, who has Songhua and Zatar as 1 and 2, with Kark coming in third
