I have a NEC LCD1970GX-BK Black 19" 8ms LCD Monitor and love it.  No ghosting and a crystal clear picture make it hard to come to work and look at this CRT.

yeah you want 19" if you can get it, but you want 8ms response time.  anything more than that is not respectable.  You also want the smallest dot pitch of the pick you have.  that's the amount of space between pixels.

I have 19" it works fine.  Used to have 22" and i LOVED it but it blew up

Almost got that one, ultimately - I decided on a similar model to this:

I got a Dell 20" Digital LCD in January and have been ecstatic about it ever since.  They go on sale periodically and I got mine for $225.  IMO, bigger's better.  Those little dark sniper blobs in the distance will be that much bigger and easier to see.

Ya I was thinking that too. I thought he meant: Just wondering what size p... you can probably guess what I mean.

Anyway i got a 19" flat panel.  I tried playing on my freinds 15" and I couldnt see crap with it.

I bought the VX924 as well - it's a very nice monitor.  Mind you, I don't have much to compare it with as previous monitor was 17"CRT

I wouldn't go for widescreen, myself.  Some games (e.g. BF2) don't naturally work with widescreen monitors so I'd be worried about losing screen size for the sake of paying extra cash.

I have a 21" CRT and the huge size is awesome.  I can see people far away that I wouldn't have noticed on a smaller screen.

I had a 17" LCD and gave it to my mum because (at the moment) LCDs just don't cut it when it comes to gaming.  Sorry LCD fans but they just don't.

LCD has a native resolution (the highest one it lists in the monitor's specs) and unless you have the processing power to have it on that res' which is usually very high, you are losing out because unlike a CRT, LCD screens have to "cheat" to achieve lesser resolutions which affects quality.

Also, unless you can afford a small fortune for a big screen with a ultra low response time you're gonna get blur when you move quickly.  I like to see everything scroll nicely when I make sharp movements.  The best way of showing this is to go on something like Google (where you have a lot of white), put your mouse cursor in a blank space and move it left and right fairly quickly.  Track the arrow with your eyes and on LCDs you just get a blur whreas on a CRT the arrow remains solid....

Note: my CRT cost me £30 from a computer refurbishers. An LCD with the same quality display (i.e no action blur) would have cost me around £400.
