Still baffles how so many people play Karkand because "no jets" yet no one plays SF's. There are always twice as many 24/7 karkand fag fests as there are SF servers in Total.

yeah i just got SF today and i wasnt very impressed of the amount of servers i got about 60 or so and a bunch o them were from the uk and i dont want to play with a ping over a hundred

but i loved the new city maps i was getting bored ofsharqi wake karkand mashtuur all the time so this is a breath of fresh air for me

hey can anyone answer me if i can get my other non-SF awards in SF? ex:Explosives Ordinance Badge on warlord?

SF takes skill to play.

Night missions, un-vehicle-capable flags, ziplines, grapplehooks. Some player prefer dumb bomb power over tactics, because they lack them.

some reasons why I think that SF is waste of money :

1) in vanilla you can fight against 3-4 ppl at one time if you have skill . In SF being long wolf against squad , even small = lethal , exept snipers .
2) unbalanced maps , for example Ghost Town - choper spawns are always camped with armor whores , fog makes destruction of AA & MAA difficult or even imposible . SAS snipers have M24 , while Spetz - only SVD , which is usless on most of positions of Ghost Town .
3) Gaymore whores everywhere .
4) BMP-3 - DICE screwded one of the best APC's ever . Hate them for it .
5) fog everywhere , as I menshioned . I like Kubra Dam so much for no fog...
6) 30mm apache gun - it is simillar to Mi28's in real life , they totally screwed it ..
7) most of SF players play it since 21st November , 2005 . For me with my 69 hours playing SF - no chances...

and others...

So I'd better play vanilla .

p/s , yes , as Bernadictus menshioned , SF needs skill to play . But i really dont want to get that skill , I dont enjoy all this ^ ..

Longbow you look to be a very good player but some of your comments blow me away. The idea that Ghost Town is unbalanced is nuts. Look at the darn map, it's almost a mirror image for each side. And the fog on that map plays into the hands of the SVD. The extra scope range of the M24 doesn't help on Ghost Town (and almost everyone has the M95 unlock anyway).

I play all the day SF maps regularly and as a whole they as balanced or more balanced than the vanilla maps. However, virtually all the SF maps are sniper friendly so you can see your share of claymores. The thing is, I see more claymores since 1.2 on all the city maps, not just SF. And I think flying helos in SF must take much more skill than the rapers playing Sharqi or whatever who have merely mastered the art of the circle strafe.

You play a ton of Karkand and it looks like you've played a lot of Warlord but very little time in the other SF maps. Give them a chance and I think you'll find many to your liking.

One thing I will agree with you on is the BMP. That vehicle is almost completely useless. It's like a carnival ride.

I'm speaking about unbalanced Ghost Town because on all other maps helipads are somehow defenced , while on Ghost Town every time I got into choper I'm killed by tank\MAA\sniper\AT\etc. For me , as a choper pilot\gunner Ghost Town is the worst balanced map . Fog ... i was speaking about fog again because of stupid MAA rapage of helipads . Missiles "see" you , you don't see MAA ...

Sniper rifles - my small sniper experience on Ghost Town says that this map is a kind of Mashtuur with armor and heli's ( I mean - sniper fest ) So most of targets are snipers , while SVD is mainly anti-infantry rifle . I don't use M95 so for me it is very hard to deal with SAS\M24 snipers at Ghost Town ranges...

Yes I play Karkand a lot because it is the best map for being assault . If you will check my stats , you will see that the most played kit is medic , but it is not really true stats for being infantry . As a medic I fly choper , as a troop I play assault (mostly)
And yes , I played Warlord a lot before 1.20 , then Palace become gaymore whores place . Palace after 1.20 is still my nightmare ...

Yes, I will agree that Ghost can be hard on the helos, the battlefield is relatively small and mobile AA has cover from the plentiful buildings and fog so you must put yourself at high risk during attack runs. The issue with getting killed while jumping in a chopper usually occurs when one side captures both helo flags. The map is set up so that if one side captures both, it opens up a very easy avenue of attack to get it back or keep the helo grounded. In other words, if the Brits capture both helo flags the Spetsnaz can sit up on nearby hill in a measly jeep (or something better) and absolutely pepper the helo and the flag so other Spetsnaz can recapture it. As to the sniper rifle issue, up until Ghost I had sworn off the SVD but that map convinced me with a little practice the SVD can be devestating. I see it used a lot on that map instead of the M95.

Anyway, if Ghost is just not your cup of tea you ought to give Surge or Mass Destruction a spin. Neither has the fog of Ghost and AA has a much tougher time against the helos.

Sf is the only thing my friends and i play when we go to the internet cafe.and when im at home i play vanila. occasionally SF if i feel like infiltrating a huge night time compaund.i like devils perch the best with no tanks and helos or aa just one apc per team it is the best map next to mashtur sity and warlord. i dont like ghost town because all people do is snipe and sit in aa or fly helos. it really pisses me off when my whole team is sniper but me and just lie around waiting for the enemy to cap a flag and shoot them.

This is a little off topic but I just got SF and tried to play it but is said something like shaders were not right. Do I have to re-install the 1.3 patch? Vanilla BF2 still works.

Tis a pitty about SF, however if ur only a mediocre player like myself you tend to get low scoring points for your efforts. I only play SF for a break from the original. I'm absolutly hoping my mind doesn't convince me to try to get all golds in it, as i think suicide would be easier.

Mmm.. SF, How I love thee.

SF is like no other, the best that came of BF2. You have brilliance in Warlord, Tank Battles on Surge, Helo battles on Ghost, Tank and Helo battles and beautifully balanced Mass Destruction, Pure Infantry in Night FLight, Iron Gator for the competitiveness ( and rapeage)..ah...the madness of it all, just the greatest. For those that aren't afraid of the dark or a change of pace, Night Flight and Leviathan will gain respect if you play it more than once, it took me awhile to get "used" to the night maps, but they are brilliant!!

EDIT: Devils Perch isnt a bad map, but not one of the most played, you have to know what you are doing as you are trying to get on the island, its kinda like Iron Gator but at night..I find alot of SEALS cant even get on the Island.. Devils Perch I actually dont like, its a snipers Haven! Leviathan and Night Flight are better.
