Help ...cant understand ??

Hello All....

We have 2 pc`s in our home used to play BF2, myself and my wife`s PC; problem is my wifes PC crashed and I replaced the HDD, renistalled Xp updated drivers / lan/vid/chipset/Bios.

This is the sequence of events of how i installed the game, first BF2 vanilla , 2nd Special Forced (wich patches to version 1.22 I think) After thats all completed I run the FULL 1.33 patch resart pc. O.k so all seems right ? But when I launch Speacial forces or BF2 Vanilla it loads up no probs see all the servers can even join a game , but randomly once you are in a game or even on the join game screen it locks up. Although the PC has not crashed as you can Alt-Tab to get to the desktop ? has anybody had the same fault it is driving me to beer (not that beer is bad )

The strange thing is when we host a single player game with bots the game works fine, ?????
Could punkbuster be the culprit , or am I installing incorrectly and missing a crucial patch ?

Any suggestions would be appriciated , As Im sure somebody must have had the same experience

PS * We have 2 copy`s legal of BF2 & SPF so it not a hacked / ripped / version.

hmm hate to recommend that since its very annoying but try to reinstall everything on your wifes computer again. i know it sucks but it solves most of the problems - other than that there are many lock ups and crashes caused by 1.3 so we need to wait for dice to release a new patch
sorry and hope it works again soon!

(oh yeah wrong section but I guess mods will take care of that )

Yeah I think a rebuild is looking like the way to do it , sob,sob,sob...so much work ohh well teach me a lesson not ot image my wifes PC and only my own!

i had a similar problem, and fixed it..

hope that helps.

i whould not recommend a reinstallation of teh operationsystem.. thats what i did, but it didnt solve the problem and kills much of time.

try with another RAM-block first or another gfx-card..

well, the server crashes, CTD, and lock-ups seem to be part of the 1.3 patch. I get those too, and I never even touched my core installation, just patched and installed the two boosters.

If you can get into a game that proves that you installed everything correctly, I guess.

I think we'll have to wait for a hotfix from EA.

I'll move this to BF2 - Help. Over there, you'll find quite a lot of threads around the 1.3 patch, including some tips for some of the problems.

Thanks all for your ideas , this is really a great forum I am very much a BF2s Addict an have a look at this site about 6x a day, at work! and when I get home,

Quick question, how many karma`s do u have to aquire before you can recipricate ??
