A Tip From A Jersey Trooper given to friend who forwarded this:

NJ is starting up a 30 day speeding ticket rally. From what I

hear, every trooper assigned to this has to hand out 1 ticket every 10

to 20 minutes.(This seems exaggerated, but regardless) They will be focusing in around this area so watch out.

Here's what a New Jersey State trooper sent:

Starting today, New Jersey will launch a 30 day speeding ticket

frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in

speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime.

There will 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main

intersections and highways. They are the following:

      I-295 north and south

1-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south

      1-80 east and west

      I-287 north and south

      I-78 east and west

      1-195 east and west

      1-280 east and west

      Rt. 130 north and south

Garden State Parkway north and south

I'm warning everyone now that 5 mph above the limit can justify a

ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write

a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes(They are going to be very busy).

They have issued 30 brand new unmarked

Crown Victoria cruisers & are bringing in all of their part timers on full time. If you work in NJ, NY, DE or CT you will probably take one of

these highways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they clock

you.

101.5 FM confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget

speeding tickets are on you. You've been warned."

Then the same friend, emailed me the following:

Driving Ticket fine  increase in NJ:

Starting on August 15th, the price of a ticket  for

violation of NJ Law 39:3-29 (failure to show your

driver's  license, registration, or insurance card at

the time you are stopped) is  going from $44.00 to

$173.00. Please make sure your vehicles have  the

proper documents in them. If you jump in the car to

run to  the store and forget your wallet with your

license in it and you are  stopped.... Oh well... you

just spent $173. And the fine for not having  all

three documents is $519!!!

Forward to people in NJ,  and let them know of this

change. And be careful, the fine for hand held  cell

phone use while driving will be going up to  $180.00.

Let's see here...Besides the fact that it's lame? I honestly can't say I do, quota systems generally don't do much more than tick people off. Each "ticket" would come out to $83 or something, that's with the 50 troopers averaging 3 tickets/hour by 24 hours a day for 30 days with $9mil being divided by the sum. Seeing as how a ticket was raised to over $100 for not having your papers, it doesn't add up. Someone is really bad with math besides being a complete assbandit.

Isn't it against the law to fine someone for being unable to produce identification? Something being unconstitutional comes to mind.

My $.02 I guess.

Quota warnings are common urban legends.
Technically, anything above the limit could get you a speeding ticket...that's why it's called the limit...

I'm not surprised, being this is the same state that won't let you pump your own gas just so the gas stations can get an extra $.75 each gallon, or taxes you more for pretzels than milk since they're a "luxury" food, hell the first time I went up there I ended up paying about $15.00 for the tea I drank with my meal, they brought it in a ridiculous stemmed glass like it was wine, it held about four ounces, so I kept asking for refills, down here they'll practically leave the whole pitcher of tea on the table and stick a straw in it for me, I never even thought for a second I was gonna have to pay $1.50 each glass, and no it wasn't at some fancy restaurant, it was a shitty excuse for a bbq joint
by the way they wouldn't take anything off the bill for it (I wasn't expecting them to give me all of it for free but damn a little discount would have been nice) so I just told them I would take it out of the tip, which should have been $8.00, which the waiter was supposed to split with the bartender, I know they weren't the owners but they were rude as hell to me and deserved it

well ken you are half right you debunked the top half, and if any of you have ever been to jersey you know they throw tickets out like no tomorrow. usually on a friday night you see about 15 cop cars sitting on the side of the road, and it's probably true haha.

But what about the second half?

If they really want lots of revenue they should do what the cops here do; put up a bunch of speed cameras.

I believe quota systems exist. I've been followed around by cops alot in suburban/urban areas because my old, '86 Dodge looks like an easy target. It's pretty obvious when they follow you around the same block a couple times before you pull into a grocery store to force them to pass.

What's the problem with quota systems?  If nobody speeds, they lower the quota.  TBH, I'm sick of people complaining that speed cameras etc. are just revenue raising.  Here's a hint: if you don't break the law, they can't raise the revenue dumbass.

Having said that, it recently came to light over here that a whole lot of cameras are faulty.

There are too many stupid laws, most of 'em victimless, for alot of people not to break 'em.

Oh yes, because you shouldn't have to carry a drivers license and obey the speed limit?

No, it was pretty well proven, to the point where the state government (this is in Victoria, btw) disabled a lot of them.  There were speeds recorded that were physically impossible.

Being from NJ, I know a little about these things.

if you went to a diner, always ask about refills because chances are not even the soda is a free refill.  it's bs, but that's the way it is.

as far as the gas goes, true, we do not pump our own gas.  it's fantastic!  when it's snowing out or 100 degrees out, we do not have to leave our comfortable cars, and Omar comes and fills our tank for us.

However, we do not pay more for gas than you.  as a matter of fact, NJ pays less per gallon than many other states, and it's because NJ doesn't tax gas as heavily as other states.

This map is a year old, but the ratios are still the same.  Check out NJ compared to most of the other states in the North East

Actually they can, I'm sure everone has been pulled over for a faulty charge back when they where younger. Now it's always your word against the cops word and your usually screwed.

I have never heard of that happening in Australia.  If you are unsurprised when your cops do that, there is something seriously wrong.

Or maybe it's just that Aussies speed so much they don't need to

NSW actually has about a 10-15% tolerance on speed, which is well known and unofficially admitted by the police.  Victoria keeps their lips sealed on whether they have a tolerance threshhold, and I'm unsure about the other states.

haha, they bought some russian made cameras for like 1.3mil each in my city to put up in a few busy intersections. they spent like a quater billion trying to get them to work and now they're disabled because they're expensive to run.
