I've used the search function, but there are way to many hits and too manh topics that simply do not support what I'm hoping to find.

When I created my BF2 account I used a secondary e-mail address that I had created through my Comcast service.  That e-mail address has long since been disabled, and is no longer available for use.  As such, I cannot re-create it to get the e-mail from EA, IGN or whoever the fuck it is that wants to send me my BF2 account password.

Now, I have saved my BF2 profiles saved under the My Documents folder, and have removed/reinstalled the game several times in the past without issue by saving this, but recently had to format/restore my system, and am quite unsure why the password is no longer valid.

PLEASE HELP!

This is not a bf2s.com issue. Please post in the correct forum in the future.

You've got that long string of bullets now where the password is yeah? That happened to me the second time I reinstalled (the first time I reinstalled I had that too but it still logged me in!) and I nearly had the same problem, but I try to be careful to use a password I can't forget (phone number backwards, DOB+random digits, that sort of thing) I eventually got back in.

Going to Gamespy won't work I'm sure as you won't be able to change the email address without the password. So you might be screwed. You could try just every password you can think of, it'll take some time but you could get lucky.

I've been this route.  I have no idea what my IGN name is, if I have one at all.  I know what e-mal address  I used because I have examined the profile.con file for my online profile, but as I noted in my primary post, that address is no longer valid.  When I used that option it said it was sending the information on recovering my password to that address, which does me no good.

Anyone know of any programs that could decrypt the password information from the profile.con file?

Well, if you go under the BF2 folder that is under your My Documents, there is a folder in there called Profiles.  You may have several profiles listed, like 001, 002, etc.  Find the one that has your online account information and open the Profile.con file using Word Pad or other text editor.  There will be a line that reads like the one below.  The address in this line is the address you used when you created your BF2 account.

LocalProfile.setEmail

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if your IGN profile name is the same as your Game Spy nick?

Well, I got lucky.  I was running out of ideas on how to get my password back.  I had try key decrypting files that are supposed to reveal passwords hidden by * and that didn't work.  I finally contacted Comcast about the actual status of the e-mail account I used when I set up BF2.  Turns out that the address was simply deactivated, but available.  I had them reactivate account and set up the account on my secondary computer's Outlook.  I went through the listed protocol for changing the password and I got the e-mail, ran their procedure, and the password change worked, so I'm good to go again.

A word of wisdom from some one that thought they were going to have to start from scratch again, write down your account password.  I had previously made a spreadsheet containing all of my CD keys, because I keep my CDs in a CD wallet, but I have now added a field for online account passwords.  Since this isn't a matter of national security or anything, I think this will save me a lot of problems in the future.

Thanks to all that posted suggestions.
