This is kidna a spurn of the moment thing with the inspiration from this post...

http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=4022

Although it maybe quite true that the whole thing is staged, but if it isn't what do you think?
I see a kid (teenager to be politically correct) who is just very passionate in Halo 2, and verbalizes his frustrations with loads of flamatory language.  Does this make him a person who is violent or prone to violence?

I'm pretty sure that certain lawmakers would watch this video and see that this is a true indication of games promoting violence and violent behavoir.

On the flip side of the coin, it could be a way for a angry person to vent their frustrations is a medium which isn't harmful to society.

All to often we hear on the news abotu what critics have to say or what the gaming industry has in response but we hardly ever hear mentioned in mainstream media about what the gamers themselves have to say about the topic.  It almost seems as if we are the sheep and need shepards to mandate our gaming experience.  If we feel that this should not be, then by virtue of the 'democratic' system we need to represent ourselves in the gaming business.

Does anyone know of an interest group that represents gamers themselves.  We are the consumers after all, and without us the industry would never exist.  We are the demand, and isn't it time for us to be more involved in the process?

But in the end, like voting and participating in government, a usual reason/excuse is that we all have our own things to worry about and gaming isn't on the top of that list.  Well i refute that answer with the notion that when you fall back on soemthings in your life, other things follow.  Think of it as shaping better behavoirs to your overall self?  i dunno...just being melodramatic....

I think there's not enough violence in games, especially BF2. And what's the deal here? A game of war, a game of soldiers, and no porn? Come on... Let's all set our hopes to the next patch. Gore and porn!

i hope in the next patch that they have the following:

body parts all over the place; with grenades killing them

blood dripping when the virtual soldiers are shot.

a big hole when a virtual soldier is shot with a 50. cal sniping rifle

So i dont think bf2 is that violent

*oh and i almost forgot; are the freakin cement floors made  of the strongest materials in the middle east? ; how about when artillery strikes, they leave big holes on the streets, with a squeeshed virtual sodiers in the bottom looking like a piece of burned paper.

Blood and Blood splattering would have been extra programing and would be more work. They wanted to release the game so quickly that they didn't even get a decent beta test team to really polish the game out before release. So blood and gore is asking too much from a already overtasked and subpar communication team.

Plus it would lower frame rates even more! Now we don't need that.

Actually I like BF2 because it has no blood and guts all over the place. It just leaves game focused on play, rather on gore...

The whole "Video Games Make People Violent" debate is pointless. Ask any gamer whether they think games make you violent, and I'd bet they'd tell you "No". It's just a handy band-wagon for certain Conservative MPs (UK) and Republican senators (US) to jump on to gain popularity with the voters.

Is that right? I think it's Republican. Anyway.

The Economist did a feature on it a month or two ago (I was on a plane over to Paris, and hey: I was bored), and they actually concluded that the statement was bollocks too, although not in so many words. They argued that there was evidence to support the fact that commputer games were a good way of relaxing, and - and this is the main thing - that the people who support the view that games are evil are all going to die soon, leaving the world with a generation of people (that's us) who grew up around technology and aren't afraid of it. The arguement that games are evil will die with those who orginally thought it.

Comforting, I feel.

a bit of blood would be nice. but I dunno about the blowing off of the body parts... I mean... if you got revived without a leg(that is critically wounded) that wouldn't be much fun hobbling around trying to run from that sniper that blew the leg off with his claymore..

I think video games fall into the genre of pop culture as they reflect the times of the day and as such they tend to include violence and gore as they are an increasing part of everyday life; movies, newscasts, the next town over, or down the block. Over exposure (via video games) desensitizes people to violence and may often encourage it in a small percentage of people. (The "lost souls" or "pitiful pearls")

Personally I do not crave violence/gore in video games although I think on occasion it might be interesting to try games that include it.

Sex, on the other hand, should be included in video games anywhere/everywhere possible!

The dust puffs *are* "blood" fro players, but EA/DICE probably changed it in order to get a lower rating so they could still sell it to young folken.

while the lack of blood doesn't make me like BF2 any more (or less for that matter), I agree with the focus on the gameplay.

I recently did a paper on this for school. My teacher thought I did a great job proving my point that Video games do NOT cause violent behavior.
