SF doesn't even open???

I tried to open SF today to play, and....

clicked on link, opening "Battlfield 2" (you know, with the pic of karkand and the tanmk, etc etc), then the screen goes black and returns to desktop as if nothing has happened. i tried to take out CD and put it into PC, but same result.

AAARRRGGGHHH! wtfzomgbbq!!!!111!!!!one!

What are you clicking on exactly? What do you have running in the background? Try doing a complete re patch of 1.3, the whole thing. Have you modified anything in your BF2 directory?

Does this happen when you try to start vanilla BF2?

vanilla works fine. when you click on the link to play bf2, what pops up? when i click on the link on the desktop "Battlefield 2", a little box appears, it has a pic of kark coming down the road from USMC uncap, theres a tank, with turret facing the hotel CP, and the words "Battlefield 2" across the middle. I cant be any more specific

ps im too stupid to even know how to mod my bf2 directory
