The game crashed my comp and when I rebooted my account was gone, I went through the normal retrieve process but it does not show up. Any ideas?

Im not sure if this will work but I guess its worth a shot. Go into your profile folder in My Documents/Battlefield 2 and see if the profile is there. There should be 1 or more folders named 000#. Go into them and hit profile.con.
Find this-
LocalProfile.setName "NAME"
LocalProfile.setNick "NAME"
Look for your old profile name in that file. If it is, your profile might have become corrupted (Not your stats but maybe the info inside the folder). Move the folder containing your profile so you can put it back incase this doesn't work. Then retrive your profile. You can just delete the folder and my documents, but this way you save stuff like screenshots, other profiles etc.

I'm sorry, i had the same thing happen to me and i had to restart Bf2 with a fresh name...i had to go through the same retrieval process and yeah its gay u cant get ur old name back

Woah. Before running the full "never gonna get it" gambit, try removing all your profiles from the My Document > Battlefield 2 folder. You might just have a corrupted profile.
At the least, try reinstalling before all hope is lost.
