I currently have 2 CPU's (my old one and a new custom one for the game) and have been sharing a keyboard, mouse, monitor, cable for both.  Needless to say, I am getting tires of switching all 4 cables and rebooting my modem every time I switch back and forth (2 per day).

So, I am buying a cheap KVM switch for the monitor, keyboard, and mouse....no problem.

My only concern is with the switch.  I currently do not have a router....so I can come off of that.  I DONT need both computers to run at the same time....so, I think I need a SWITCH (low # of ports) right?

My other concern is that I don't want to inadvertantly slow down my gaming connection going through a switch!  I have a cable broadband connection and my baud rate is very good -  no problems currently with the game....

Would something like this work?  What should I look for?

Dood, get a 4-port switch and you'll be good to go.

P.S. I think I love your sig girl.

all you need is a switch to split the connection, as long as both aren't using 100% bandwidth you won't suffer.
