both of which can be gotten some where else for far cheaper.

The amount of energy required to split hydrogen and oxygen apart from water is pretty high. more than you get back if you compine the two or burn them seperately.

And where is that energy going to come from? Burning high sulfur coal? Nuclear power plants? $100 a barrel oil? not worth the effort.

I thought powering cars/engines from water is not possible. Water is a by product of hydrogen and oxygen combining.

You can compare it to fire combining with wood. All that is left is ash. You can’t start a fire with ash.

Anyone else know something about it?

Brown's Gas. But the reaction and/or it's byproducts aren't the issue. It's extracting the relevant components from water which is.
