The 518 is very much like my MX1000 cordless laser, but missing one button on the side.

I took a G7 back after two weeks, because I simply liked my MX1000 a bit better...couldn't tell any difference in effective resolution, I missed the missing TWO buttons on the side, and the swappable battery pack, while a damned good idea, didn't help me much because I already had two MX1000's, and just swapped one out for the other if I forgot to charge the battery. As far as the weights, the weight I liked was (surprise) roughly the same weight as my MX1000.

That said, if I didn't already have the MX1000's, and they were no longer being made, the G7 would be my choice (I freakin' hate corded mice, haven't owned one in years..hell, for that matter, my KB and joystick are cordless too).

I own both a 518 and G5,

the wheel click doesn't work on my G5, I don't know whether I have a defective mouse or what, also, I really don't notice any difference between dpi between the two. If the G5 didn't lose the side button I would still be using it for sure but, from using the 518 awhile then switching to the G5 with a loss of a button, that was too hard to get used to.

G7 is better since i read about click wheel problems on G5, the G7 doesnt have any... but if ur going to buy a mouse, get a G7

Screw the G7 and having to change the battery every couple hours if you're constantly using it. I mean, I use my mouse for work and such so I end up using it like 14 hours a day. I'd hate to have to change it's batteries a couple times a day.

i only have to change it once maximum... once i ran outta batteries for my mx1000 during bf2... wasnt cool... i recharged the battery while i was dead

i have a G5 , it nice cause when i get in tank i just turn sensitivity all the way up and turret turns fast, and the weights do make a difference...it works great for me:)

I run it with no weights. I like a light mouse. I'd probably go lighter if I could (easier to pickup).

Ya should have saved your $$$ and moved to Brisbane instead...best thing I did for my gaming experience was move outta melbourne, now I can sit up at 3am without getting cold
