Defibs are the shock paddles.

In real life when someone has heart trouble from a heart attack or other reasons, the heart will start to pulse rapidly, or fibrillate.  The paddles will shock it back to a normal rhythm, hopefully, thereby DEfibrillating it.  Hence the name.

btw, in contrast to BF2, these things don't work perfectly every time in real life.

so don't bet our life on it ( I can see a Jackass episode coming here.. )

I got my first defrib kill the other day. I was behind some guy and spent a minute debating wether to knife him or defrib him. I reasoned that I'd save yet another attempt on my two knife combat badges for another day. Also, I've been killed nine times by defribulators, none of which I can remember, so I thought it'd be a good idea to put a stop to that horrible ratio.

hey just a question, for instance it says i have 40 pistol kills and 148 pistol deaths. does this mean i was killed 148 times BY a pistol? or does it mean i was killed 148 times while i had my pistol out?

the latter...

personally i don't think it makes sense that way, but it's EA, so maybe it's not supposed to make sense...

i also just made my first defrib kill a few days ago. on the carrier, i was healing teammates as a chinese spec ops was blowing up our trailer...i had the paddles out, he moved over a teammates body, so i killed him first intstead of saving a life...which i did afterwards tho. good times.
