My graphic card is nVidia GeForce 6600, I have 2 GB ram, AMD 64 3200+
So... If I want to run the game smooth I have to put all graphics to low or off because of my 6600. But if I buy new graphic card (7900gt?) I would have to buy a new power supply because this one is crappy one and doesn't have right cables and power for good graphic card. But if I buy both of those, I also have to buy better processor   (AMD 64 X2 3800+?) because this one couldn't handle so good graphic card. And if I buy those, I have to buy new motherboard, what has support for X2 processors. That's almost a new computer! I have about 600 € (euro) but that's not enough for a new computer, and if it would be enough, I wouldn't want to spend all my money. What to do?

Edit: Btw this computer is not actually mine, so I couldn't steal anything from this computer, except RAM. Oh I almost forgot the configuration I was planning:

processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ boxed | 313.90 €
motherboard: Abit KN8 | 83.81 €
case: Lazer H-14 | 39 €
hard drive: Western Digital Caviar 160GB WD1600BB 2Mt cache | 75.90 €
DVD-drive: LG GDR-8164B beige DVD-ROM-drive,16X / 52X bulk | 22.90 €
graphic card: Asus GeForce 7900 GT | 311.30 €
power supply: Antec 550 W truecontrol | 59 €
monitor: BenQ FP91G+ | 287 €

You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

no need for new cpu, not worth it... hell i run a 7900gt on a p4 3.0ghz (overclocked to 3.45 now) so just get a new psu and 7900gt, but i suggest u only overclock it to 530mhz core, and 1460mhz mem... it will run 570core for a week w/ no prob then it crashes a lot.. (locks up)

You have have a better system than me, I on a 5700 ultra and I don't have to set everything to low or off to play the game smoothly, just almost everything.

Hmm okay I buy PSU (=power supply?) and 7900 GT, but before I buy PSU, how can I check if it's good enough for 7900 GT? (I know that my PSU is Bestec, and it's 300 W but nothing else. So how to know if it's good enough?)

Umm yea but I heard that 7900 gt needs 6-pin cable or something... But I have PCI-E x16 I know that.

yes it does, but you need a good branded 400 watt psu to run it safely. make sure the psu has a 6pin pci-e cable, it is different from normal 6pin cables btw

Hmm would this PSU be good? (Just look at the name of the PSU, it's finnish store)

The price ain't bad (80 €) and it has won PSU comparision in the local computer magazine. ("MikroBitti")

And here is Radeon X1800XT 512 MB version just for 268 € plus all shipping payments! Even after shipping payments the price still remains under 300 €! And it's the 512 MB version!

yeah that one looks good, but i wont get a X1800XT, even though its 512mb doesnt help that much in graphics processing... i would still get the 7900gt

Here's 7900 GT 512 MB at it's lowest in germany. 294 €

And here's 7900 GT 256 MB version, price 256 €

Hmm hard to decide... I've heard that X1800XT is slightly better than 7900 GT... Don't know who to trust.

Try the 7600GT.

*sigh* why does everybody automatically want the latest and greatest out there???
I mean dont get me wrong the 7800/7900 is an awesome card and I would give my right nut for 1, but if all you want to do is run BF2 smoothly on high settings then i think the 6800GT/7600GT would be a much better choice, and much more value for money (especially if you match the video cards and SLi them).
Try this:

Motherboard - Albatron K8 SLi
Processor    - AMD 3500+/3700+ skt 939 single core
PSU             - 450-500W
RAM            - 1GB DDR 400Mhz
Video card   - Matched 7600GT

The performance increase with the single core CPU and matched video cards is somewhere like 10-15% (dont quote me on it tho, i could be wrong), as compared to only 5% with dual core CPU and SLi 7900.

SLi is mainly designed for dual core processors (the idea being 1 video card per core - hence the small increase in performance).

My 2 cents
