I dont really know all that much about Computers.

Anyways.. I have Around $300.00 Canadian to Spend on my computer, and i was wondering if i should buy a new Graphics card or add more ram.

My current Graphics card is a Radeon 9800 128 mb       ---- Yes i know its pathetic.
And I only have 512mb  of ram.

So, should i buy a new Graphics card first and then get more money and buy more ram.
Or should i buy a 1gb stick of ram and then get a new graphics card.

And it would also be very helpful if you guys could post what kind/brand of ram or Graphics i should get.

Thanks for the help.

In my opinion... go for RAM. i have 126mb graphics and had 512Mb RAM. I upgraded to 2Gb. It made a hell of a difference... no more waiting for hours or getting lag 24/7

Ram mate,i have a radeon x700 pro pci-e card which is the 128 version and 2 gig of ram and it works ok. you really need more ram,1gb would be the minimum you should be using. must take you ages on the"loading complete verifying blah blah" screen!! more gigs will sort that also, mine used to stutter like crazy when it loaded the map and again the ram sorted that too! good luck!

Quite right,if you have that amount of money you should have plenty left over,i bought 1gb and it cost me £70 english pounds(god knows what that is in canadian) so you should some...if not enough then a good starting place to save up a bit more for the graphics card!lol

You times CAD by around 2 to get Pounds, so £70 is around $140.00.  So i have around £150 to spend.

I would 2GB of ram for about $150USD (so about $200 CAD?) and then save a bit more to upgrade the graphics card to a 7800gs or something later down the road.

It sounds as though you've settled on the RAM (which I would agree with). I just wanted to let you know that I have that same graphics card and had graphics lag with 1 gig of memory. When I added an additional gig (for a total of 2), it cleared things up for me. I'm not saying that it is fantastic, but it made it good enough for me to wait on my next machine.
