//EDIT
damned

to be serious
i got an intel pentium IV 3.0 GHZ, i think, i'll never switch to AMD, but soon i am gonna switch to nvidia again. ATI made nice gpus, but the whole pixelshader model discussion makes me to switch again. nvidia did fine for me, don't know, why i've changed a winning team...

Until beginning of may it was Intel Pentium 4 630 & ATI X800XL, i recently exchanged the ATI with a NVIDIA 7900 GT.

The next changes follows in August and the CPU will be replaced by an Intel Core 2 E6600.

Intel + nVidia

Was Intel + ATI 2 months ago.

I'll probably never switch to AMD though.

Was AMD + ATI.. then AMD + nVidia.. but now i've just built a water cooled P4 805D system which i hope to OC to around 4.1Ghz (see here) + X1900 so thats what i've voted. (even though i not played BF2 on it yet)

that system pwns all... 805d= oc monster that beats non overclocked fx60...

but conroe is a greater oc monster 3.6 from 2.4 on AIR

With rumours rife that AMD may buy ATI, I like my current combination of those two...

lol not really 4200+ dual core processor and 2 bfg7800gt's in sli, although i spose if you count the one i made for the missus so i can have mine all to myself then maybe, same processor but two xfx 6800s instead, and all she does is play sims2 *shakes head* i mean i even bought her a copy of bf2...........

AMD & ATi, went with ATi coz it outperforms its nvid equivelants by way of straight fps, graphics dont look as good but it does have better performance. AMD well... its AMD why would i choose Intel? lol

ive always used intel chip and used to have Geforce fx 5200 but now i have radeon 9550. so ive switched but not realy through choice, more through budget.

AMD64 X2 4400+ and an NVidia 7800GTX go.

I don't think i'd ever put an Intel chip in a machine of mine again. Cheaper, often give better performance and they prove that its not all about clock speeds! I can't say i've ever owned an ATI card but i do tend to stick to the same brand so i'll prolly stay Nvidia.

But this summer... intel has better cpu's than amd's...

Conroe (or core 2 duo, gay name i know) is cheaper, more efficient in instruction per clock, and higher overclockability (2.4 to 3.6ghz on AIR). but now amd pwns

AMD + Nvidida

AMD is not only cheaper but it actually tests better.

I've never built with Intel and never intend to.  AMD has always been the best value for the buck.  AMD has always been the easier upgrade path.  And AMD has always been rock solid stable.  This is a no brainer for those of us who don't have a ton of money to buy rig overhauls (mobo, cpu, mem) everytime Intel introduces a new iteration.

Same goes for Nvidia - powerful, solid, and good value.  ATI's 9000 series was pretty cool, but their drivers have always been buggy.

I don't know a lot about Conroe to be honest, i'll look it up sometime. For now though AMD chips suit me better, great balance of gaming ability and audio processing... I'm simply in love with my dual core laptop!

2.13 is 230usd
2.4 is 316 usd
2.66 is 550usd

and all those run as fast as FX60, most ppl will go w/ 2.4 and overclock it to around 3ghz

Are there even any benchmarks for Conroe cores vs their AMD equivs? Comparing it to current AMD chips is quite pointless.
