Whats a good thing to record with?

more gigs of ram help. i've found with 1.5 gigs of ram in my machine (AMD64 3800+, and a 7600GS) i can record at about 29-35 FPS on mostly high settings. the ram i think really helped
i dont have money for ram
i can record at around 40-50fps on a 1gig x800 pro system, but all the BG task are closed, everything except Iexplorer and some other important stuff. I set the fps thing to 60 and it looks pretty good.
I don't have money for food. Anyone wanna donate?

I've found recording on the "halfscreen" setting makes the 'lag' issues disappear.
Although the recording is sorta small

i use game cam, it's better, takes less place and nicer recording
I have a dual core processor and a seperate hard drive that I record the video to.
I find if I set the frame capture rate at say 60fps then things are perfectly playable. Video has never been choppy though. (I put this down to the fact that BF2 runs on one core and fraps on the other)
You can always decimate the framerate by 2 (when encoding) if you're wanting to put it online or somesuch.
EDIT: I bought fraps a bit ago, never tried game cam. The only thing that annoys me about fraps is it can't record at 1280x1024 so instead records the video at 640x512. (although it can record at 1152x864)

i tried the Game Cam Lite, and every time I tried it in BF2 it crashed my game. Even just joining a singleplayer map.Mushroomcar wrote:

You pretty much need a top of the line machine to run fraps while having it render your game. you can select what fps you want fraps to render in and it will lower your fps to the settings you requested, however if your video cannot take rendering the videogame while your hard drive is getting pounded writing the RAW AVI data for your movies fraps will run like shit.*TS*tphai wrote:

try setting it to 30 fps since movies wont play in 60fps anyway. Only record in 60fps if you have 2 gigs of ram and a top of the line machine to handle the beat down on your hard drive. a 2 minute movie can be 6 gigs. Fraps will eat up your hard drive faster than napster could back when it was free.
i give up with fraps its anoying and pointless
sucks for u lol im jm , try game cam lite then
