you pull a blade and suddenly people can't dive on their bellies fast enough

Do some searching, there's been a lot of discussion on the bunny hopping issue, and how to solve it.
My best solution to bunny hoppers is grenades, cause they're usually so busy jumping they dont notice you threw one.
I aggree that people use bunny hopping as a way to avoid enemy fire, simply because they can. Personally I prefer taking cover, or hiding in a bush. I think you should be able to do a double tap quick dodge to avoid incoming missiles or fast moving vehicles, and jump occasionally. But rapid jumping is stupid. What bunny hoppers are trying to do is get you to frantically empty your clip at them. I dont think they jumping effect accuracy as much as it should, cause I've been blown away many times by people in mid hop.
I think this game should be about accuracy, and making yourself as small of a target as possible with camouflage or cover, but not about who can do a fancier fairy dance.

Also called Dolphin jumping. In mid jump you go prone, so you're less of a target. And do it over and over. Personally I think you should not be able to jump while prone.FLaXCarnage wrote:

I see ALOT of people doing this. One did a helicopter spin in mid-air while killing everyone (including myself) in the room. But hey if it works.... Have fun.Dizazter wrote:

seriously though, bunny hopping is lame. so is tube hunting (running about with nothing out but your 40mm...that is lame. nothing against kills with it, but its not your freaking primary).
they need to nerf bunny hopping. have it take up a massive amount of the sprint bar, and if there is not sprint bar, no jump.
superman dives, on the other hand, are the shit.

Just remember that most bunny-hoppers have no real skill, and are almost always stat-padders. And they always seem to hide behind the other bunny-hopping faggots on their team, making it very difficult to kill them. What is really sad is that EA knows that more people than none are sick of it, yet fail to rid the problem. They already have our money so why should they? What is really really sad, is that so many people cry during games about this faggot bunny-hopper, or that one, yet never ban together and exercise thier ability to kick. Shame on servers also for not doing more to enforce zero tolerance towards bunny-hopping. I agree, it has grown out of control. It ruins the realistic look and feel of the game, and renders most squad activitys null. Have you ever seen any of our troops pogo sticking it around Iraq on tv? Someone up in EA needs to wake up. It is almost embarrasing to play the game anymore. I think Dizazter just coined a new and more accurate name for bunny-hopping, fairy-dancing. Way to go man...lol.

wasnt the original issue with bunnyhopping that they exploited the netcode and create warp and lag issues for the opposing player?
oh boy. where do i start with this one?
Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> Uninstall Battlefield 2

thankfully ea doesn't make major gameplay changes just because kids like you that think they're m@d l33t cry about something they can't compensate for. if they did, eventually the game would be chipped at and picked at until every bit of game had been whittled away leaving us with a black & white online version of pong.Nemicide wrote:

lol right, because i forgot about how every infantry soldier is issued a reusable parachute and bullet holes can be healed instantly by standing next to a shipping crate full of medical supplies and ammo cans. and let's not forget how you can get in and out of vehicles instantly without any kind of door or hatch opening and closing.Nemicide wrote:

by embarassing do you mean embarassing how you can't learn to compensate? if so,Nemicide wrote:

Yeah there are problems, but that's part of the game--take it or leave it
if uber, unforgiving realism is what you're looking for my advice is america's army. best part is that it's free, so if you wanted to you could make the switch immediately.
HA HA HA nice post [CPD]588
ahh it was like a breath of fresh air. i mean, i suppose i could come on here and whine about being raped by jets/helo's every map, but i just get over it. **rolls eyes**

In my opinion, if you are unable to hit a bunny hopper then you just aren't aiming. For a real challenge try headshotting one close-range with a SVD.
ayb ROFL that is funny.
Heh I love this attitude. Why would EA ever come out with patches or change anything ever? They could just have in large text on the main battlefield 2 webpage:fikraag7 wrote:

haha bunny hopping has plagued games forever and there are two crowds in fps gaming one doesnt mind it one does.
Duke Nukem, Doom Quake, Unreal Tourney Players= BUNNY HOPPING? HELL YA BABY ROCKET JUMP WHILE YOUR AT IT!
Delta Force, Hidden and Dangerous, Day of Defeat Player= Bunny hopping! wtf?
Its the same as Speedball vs Scenerio Games in Paintballing Im sure plenty of other gamers play that too!
You just cant mix em well and BF2 tries to do that frankly I feel BF2 is more int he second catigory and should impliment Day of Defeat Jumping system where jumping uses about 2/3 your stamina bar and you have to wait a couple secs to jump full height again

A disadvantage for bunny hoppers is that they're not really that stealthy.
it would never get enough support to be implemented, but one thing i've long wanted to see is the complete elimination of jumping in battlefield. honestly, not only are you going to be able to hop hop hop along the bunny trail, you would be lucky to be able to jump more than an inch off the ground once while standing STILL with all the gear soldiers carry. figure a 5 pound weapon, a 40-75 pound pack, 3 or 4 clips, grenades, a pistol, a knife, survival gear, body armor, thick-soled boots. makes me short of breath just thinking about it.
yeah, but cmon, it's a "game" for that very reason so we can somewhat enjoy it....make it too realistic and everyone would quit.
Eh, Bunny Hopping isn't a huge issue in America's Army, and that's hyper realistic. Given, bunny hopping still happens in AA, but the disadvantage there is that you're not able to shoot while in the air, so the only purpose of it is for total defense, and even then it's not that useful.
Personally, I think that jumping has its place, and I think that there's a good reason that you're still able to jump even when your stamina has been used. How many times has someone been sprinting away from an enemy and then they need to jump up onto a ledge or something to avoid running up the stairs or whatever? It happens to me somewhat frequently.
That said, the height you're able to jump in BF2 is just ridiculous. You can jump higher than most basketball players it seems, and like the man said, you're carrying 50+ pounds of gear. Hell, with the parachute and all the excess crap it might damn well be 100. Jumping 6 feet into the air just makes no sense. 2 feet would be plenty to clear most obstacles, and you could still get decent distance.... As mentioned before, jumping is in this game to get past obstacles, not leap around and blast away pretending that this is Halo 2 or something.
