if an older (or younger) generation has something they think is really good, why would they get mad at someone for not knowing about it? if it's that great, send a link. why are you scowling? why is that the reaction? tell me about your 2010s show. tell me about that 1950s hit album. there's lots of cool stuff out there waiting to be shared! Marathon on May 3rd and my training has been pretty shite.

One lady was advocating for the geese and she said "the geese are human they have feelings they are living things." But she caught herself mid sentence about the human part but kept going.

No clue where the needle went through my shoe, or how really since it was really embedded far.

Huge pain the ass last night from the 4 hours spent there and getting blood drawn twice because they fucked up the first time and had to call me back.

But 100x worse will be the bill. Sure my deductible is $500 but if you havent visted an ER before or arent from the US, its $500 for the hospital, $500 for the doctor who works in the hospital, $500 for the lab work, and likely the medication isnt covered so thatll be $$500 to $2k.
No, insurance doesnt think those all count as the same event.

it's an old and much-worn trope, but jesus fucking christ am i glad i don't and have never lived in a country where stepping on a needle and paying $3k+ is a possible occurrence. you can keep those freedoms all the way the fuck over there. do not export.

Well, on the one hand sorry to hear that, that sucks.

On the other, I think you're missing the big picture - which is that drug addicts leaving needles lying around is a normal part of a properly functioning free market.

People ending up on the streets and taking drugs to get through their day is an essential aspect of free market earn-what-you're-worth capitalism.
If they don't like it they should learn linux coding or high-frequency trading or something - the solution is literally in their hands.

Rest assured the mighty free market will correct itself. If you get AIDS you can track down and sue the drug addict who left the needle for millions of dollars - eventually drug addicts will get the message that discarding needles is just too expensive and they will stop doing it - in fact discarded needles will become so rare that they'll be worth a fortune and a whole new economy will be created as people scour the ground for them so they can sell them to collectors.

As you lie dying in a gutter, penniless after spending everything on medical bills and legal fees, you can close your eyes with a smug feeling of contentment that you've lived in the greatest country in the world and done your bit to make it greater.

I mean, I hope you don't get AIDS, typically a mild scratch won't do it even if it does break the skin which it seems it didn't.
With luck you'll be able to find another way to making America even greater.

Apparently Malaysians still have the system whereby they pay medical premiums their whole life, then when they get old and sick the premiums go through the roof and they just die.

Bottom line is most countries can't really afford all the medical treatment people would like to have but its still cheaper than bombing third world countries and funding Israel.
