I voted and organized against Trump for years. Americans voted for this.

and where's the opposition in the united states? kind of crazy MAGA elected a 'no more wars' president and now he's about to put boots on the ground in iran ... where's the clamour? where's the street protests? poof. this situation is really, truly bizarre. everybody seems checked out.
a lot of people do feel checked out. even with news engaged. americans are unsure if covid (even after it slapped them in the face), global climate change, are real. americans have been under the trump firehose for years. i think a lot of people have spent their energy on tracking the ice nazis and trump's dismantling of institutions, and are basically just gawking at the worldwide traffic collision right now, believing it far enough past their own nose to be something that happens "way over there." americans feel this way about other american states, even. what the heck do they care about iran or greenland. may as well be venus or mars.

earlier in 2025 trump was screaming about an energy crisis in our future. self-fulfilling prophecy.

i meant the democrats and actual opposition. not saying you haven’t registered opposition at the grassroots level. where’s the great leader of the opposition holding all this to account? or is it an imperial presidency without a peep from the bipartisan divide?

The American system doesn't really have a 'great leader of the opposition' at any time until after the primaries, then its all a charade in a 1.5 party state with both sides owned by jews and billionaires.

The bigger problem is that the Republicans fully support what is happening, but will be able to pin it on Trump when he dies.

this really is the decisive end of the american empire. they will never recover from this episode with iran.

creating a global energy crisis and proving themselves incapable of achieving their goals militarily. then alternating between begging and goading their former allies into fixing it. ‘now it’s your problem’. yeah, that’s not how imperial hegemons act. it’s over.

even germany are proposing ducking out entirely from all ties to this conflict, sending american troops home from their bases, and making a deal with iran.

and japan, korea, taiwan, etc. who are all feeling the brunt of the fuel shortages much sooner than any westerner, are inevitably going to be drawn closer into china’s orbit. at this point it’s existentially necessary to do so.

‘no more wars’ trump has decisively removed america from global pre-eminence by … starting a war he has no ability to finish.

china won by doing basically nothing. what’s that old sun tzu line about never interrupting your enemy when they making a mistake? the hubris and all-round unbridled machismo bullshit of MAGA trumpism has done for the yanks.

what is he complaining about. he was just bragging about the job already being done lol

wow what a biznes sales pitch from the master himself.

"learn to fight your own battles" -the man who's never fought a battle and is pleading for help.

his statements and pronouncements are so bipolar that i can only assume they're intended to game the markets and help his inner circle with their insider trades. because none of it makes any sense.

that's probably part of it but it also wouldn't surprise me if he's just that disconnected. i've listened to conservatives say they wanted the older guy1 because ExPeRiEnCe, but what experience do they think trump has with daily trials and tribulations? besides which, younger people than he are feeding poisoned ideas directly into his brain via conveyor belt.

I can't believe how the news has to frame world events to try and make Americans care. The whole region is being flattened. Innocent people are dying. Their food and fuel are in total chaos. And our news is like, "if this goes on any longer, say goodbye to your stuffed-crust pizza."
yes, helium. the stuff used in party balloons. and nothing else. thank you, msm

i can’t even listen to your late-night ‘satirists’ and liberal ‘pundits’ anymore. it all just drips with american self-regard and american self-pity. nobody cares anymore. people are tired of being exposed to the psychodrama of america and her zionist special pleaders. we are tired if it. shuffle off and let the fireworks begin for the asian century already.

i don't make a habit of following these guys. a lot of the stuff across multiple shows comes off as tiresomely dry with painful badum-tss and jokes drawn out way too long with dramatic pause for audience reaction. he makes a good (obvious) point in the above timestamped, bur the death and suffering feels like passing mention . the segment is mostly america, america, america, even if only to make fun of the upcoming ping pong ball shortage or trump hitting on a fox reporter after she asked him about iran's food and water situation.

maybe actually a dated format!

conservatives liked to joke that liberals couldn't have a rush because liberals aren't funny. was rush really that funny though? "homeless druggies blah blah blah, CIGAR *paper shuffle*." ya real master of comedy there, where is the bar set, exactly?

i mean, these guys were making wise-cracks during the bush-cheney years. shit was 20 years ago. the whole act is tired. fat load of good they have ever done with their sanctimony and weeping on camera after every tragedy or fuck-up.

Jon Stewart annoyed me in his response to the Trump assassination.
...by a hair’s breadth, we dodged a catastrophe.

“But it was still a tragedy,” he concluded, “because one of those first responders lost his life. His name was Corey Comperatore. He was a retired fire chief in the area. He had given his life in service to his community and he died literally shielding his family. He’s a reminder that in those moments of crisis, there are helpers and we can all make a choice to try and be one of those people.
Fuck all of that. What happened to this country in the aftermath of Trump coming into office is the catastrophe. Him and his supporters terrorize my community. I am as glad about the firefighters family seeing him die as many MAGA are at blowing up Iranians.
