this recent 'discourse' was very strange to me, because it speaks about that era of music as if it had any real 'authentic' purchase. as far as i remember it, all that stomp clap faux-woodsman thing was apprehended as music for insurance and car commercials from the very start. it wasn't like it was some underground thing that reached the mainstream and became saturated: it was mall muzak and vibes-based branding from the start?

stomp clap music was basically the cultural equivalent of obama years optimism.

Heard the last minute of this Nivana song while riding passenger in a car.

I remembered how when I was growing up this song constantly was at the top 10 songs and albums of all time.

Now the song sounds kind of silly. My girlfriend was like "what is he screaming about?"

nirvana have aged pretty well i think. a lot of their b-sides and non-MTV songs are good.
