I have given up on teaching my 3 classes of juniors with emotional disorders. It isn't worth the stress trying to teach kids who are rude and aggressive. 5th week of school and I have already had 2 "movie weeks."
We watched Cinderella Man for the Great Depression and Midway for World War 2.
I still plan to teach my 2 classes of freshmen. But otherwise it literally isn't worth the physical harm and stress to teach emotionally disturbed kids in this setting.
...
One of these especially rude and aggressive students is a total street kid. They hired an aide to take him class to class because he can't be trusted to do so on his own. $40,000 spent on making sure one student who disrupts class makes it to the classes to disrupt.
Rethink your strategy, if they misbehave don't reward them with fun modern films, punish them with old miserable films - which are usually more historically accurate.
Midway -> Tora Tora Tora
Cinderella Man -> some old black and white version of The Grapes of Wrath
