Chat GPT finally upgraded to a new model. Apparently it removed the ass kissing and enthusiasm and replaced it with a more cold and straightforward one.
A lot of people are upset because they enjoyed the friendly and fun ChatGPT. I think the fun ChatGPT was actually a great thing for a society drowning in negativity. Other people are suggesting that by making the model less wordy OpenAI is saving money. That's important because even paid users like me are actually a net loss for them.

Tinkering with the new model and it seems it also removed a lot of safeguards. Previously I could ask it to give me directions for something unethical and it would stick a warning at the end about "the dangers of blah and why you should consider..." Now it just gives you whatever you want without the lecture. I asked ChatGPT itself what had happened and it said the new model was programmed to be less moralizing and to just give the output people asked for. Great! But also by removing the ethical warning they save processing output.

i imagine mac could tell 5 "in the weirdly ingratiating, merry style of chatgpt 4" while generating borderline softcore movie scripts involving creeping past cucked soldiers like solid snake. "ooh, that sounds like a wonderfully engaging plot! let's get to work writing it in a way that respects the dignity and wellbeing of all the characters." can see it now.
tags and filters for ai content have been implemented elsewhere, at least. credit as the prompter for ai content is notably less icky than as the artist or author or whatever.
