Ordered a diff kit for my Tamiya car.

Without a diff RC cars are a bit crap, except on sand and I don't think I'll run it on sand.
I didn't want to build the whole thing then strip it down to fit a diff later.

Very excited

6 month build time in total.

and, yes, that is a scratch on the linear power supply. amazing that they'd pack a plug without plastic protectors on the metal teeth.

every day i find more reasons to think these engineering folk aren't as brilliant as they make out.

yeah, dj mixers are built as ruggedly and simply as possible as they will be treated pretty roughly and in not ideal ambient conditions (smoke, liquids, often times sand or dust when at outdoor stages, etc.)

still, it's a bit annoying to pay top prices for a bespoke product that then turns up pre-scratched. a protector for a plug head would have cost all of about $0.02.

you don’t have to go to some sketchy ‘free party scene’ rave. there are loads of great venues with proper authentic scenes in NYC. world-class DJ’s are playing there all the time to discerning crowds who are there for the music. none of the EDM crapshoot.

haven’t seen anyone deck dance or do stupid shit like that. i go to fairly selective/self-selecting venues. i don’t really enjoy the giant light shows and warehouses full of 3000 pressed bodies anymore. prefer a small room with attention on good sound and attention to detail. tiktok and video reel social media has turned those big events into pure spectacles. i do not need to see the big CGI robots shooting lasers from their eyes while a cheesy trance synth plays an arpeggiated breakdown. all that shit is corny as hell.

i think the pandemic broke young people’s brains when it comes to acting within the realms of normality/acceptability at these things. plus do not underestimate how the drug du jour can drastically change the vibe in the nightlife scene. ketamine’s widespread popularity has led to really rubbish dancefloors tbh. GHB in europe similarly so.

I think that chasing clout on social media has resulted in people doing dumber stuff in public. No matter how silly you act in real life you will always find someone on social media who will applaud you or maybe even send you money.

The last time I did any drug not sold in is a store is like 2013 when I dropped LSD. I am much more aware about the danger of putting street drugs into your body.

if anyone's killing the restaurant industry, it's not the younger or middle-aged generations. boomers were calling that stuff too expensive in the 80s and 90s. if rich people really cared about the welfare of low- and mid-tier restaurants, they'd pay people more.

this does segue into perhaps an important chemical warfare tip. don't stand behind someone who's eating jerky on a hike.

The place is actually in New Brunswick where the flagship of Rutgers is. So ripping off upper middle class college students and local Indians in tech.

I bet the sushi is inexpensive there too. Generally much healthier lifestyle there.
