Louis Vuitton has a new male jewelry line.

I really like this $17,000 ring.

"Affordable" at only $800.

This ring is $5000. I like it but not as much as the top one.

So these are my daily drivers. What I wear to work.

Sterling Silver. I might decide to do white gold someday but like these so far. I don't buy plated jewelry.

If I could get away with it, I would probably do two on each hand. Maybe I will do more than 1 on each finger when I am outside of work and/or raving.

I am getting a bracelet for my birthday. Also silver. I don't care for gold.

I have since updated my jewelry collection. If anyone wants to see that all LMK.

I am proud of today's outfit. Blue pants and shirt. Brown boots. Watch face matches my clothes. Watch band matches my boots.

I took this picture on my lunch break. At least I am not a TikTok teacher who post dance thirst traps from the classroom.

nice colour coordination. you even matched it with your skin (j/k j/k).

however i hope you are not pairing several thousand dollar timepieces with chinos from the GAP.

lmao this stuff is fucking gross. 'LV' is a big mark in the sense of making an easy target. you know any person wearing it is nouveau riche. outside of their highest-end waiting list stuff, it's basically for gullible vulgarians.

it is very good if you want to look like an asian visiting paris on their parents' dime. otherwise, avoid that brand.

I'm in the market for a smart watch. Android platform. Preferably with offline GPS (ability to download maps/routes) and something that will give me yardages on the golf course.

Do any of you 5 here have any recommendations?

What phone do you have? Samsung then go for the Samsung watch. Google Pixel? Go for Pixel Watch.

Smartwatches have pretty much reached the apex of functionality.

the year is 2035 and biometrics watches have been perfected. a man slumps over from a heart attack in a trump hypermarket chain store. before negotiating with the insurance company's AI for an ambulance deployment (it was touch-and-go), the device processes a coupon redemption for tums so it can forward his current aisle location and updated store circulation pattern to partner businesses.

dead for thirty-five minutes before the paramedics show up, his stream playlist has gone silent. there, on his screen in white-upon-black:

Code:

"are you still there?"

S22 Ultra. I was thinking about a Garmin bc I've heard good things from one of the guys I play golf with, but his recommendation was also $1400, and I don't want to pay that much for an ugly electronics device on my wrist. I'd like be under $600 if it's possible.

Just get the Samsung Ultra and replace the band with a metal or leather one.

There isn't a single smartwatch that will work as well with your phone as an official Samsung one. The thing is made to interface with your device.

The compatibility with my phone is less important than being able to have offline maps of backpacking routes and the ability to get yardage to the green on the golf course without having to pull my phone out or fumble with a rangefinder. I know once I get it I'll find all kinds of cool features, but at this moment those two use cases are the main drivers.

i remember golf once being described to me as a way to get out, walk around in the nice (obsessively-manicured) countryside, and breathe fresh air. now people are using gps to minmax their game.

the greatest generation would be shaking their heads.

They have GPS, motorized push carts that link to your phone. You don't even need to carry your clubs anymore!

Golf, just like virtually every other hobby, has been both blessed and cursed by technology creep.

you should see the upscale and tony neighbourhoods of seoul. half the retail space south of the river in gangnam is golf apparel and accessories. it is so graspingly aspirational.

most of these sports started out as diversions for landed gentry, as a continuation of gentlemanly outdoor pursuits like grouse shooting. amateur in the strictest and most classical sense of the word. since the socially self-conscious middle-classes took them up, they became part of that vast nexus of consumer behaviour known as 'leisure activities'. the MBA and SME class with their mock-tudor 'club houses'. shudder.

to be fair, golf was also presented to me as a business affair. a grandparent made sure i knew how to swing a club, at least.

there is something very funny and depressing about seeing titleist and paisley socks in apgujeong, within driving distance of the 38th parallel.

The Korean golf community in LA got called out for sucking up all the publicly available tee times. Essentially a small group of enterprising Koreans were gobbling up all the tee times and then relisting them at a premium on WhatsApp groups. Annoying as hell, but also very entrepreneurial?

skinny jeans have not been fashionable for about 8 years. they are conspicuously UNfashionable at this point. it's a death sentence in highly fashion-conscious tokyo or seoul. biggest marker of a terminally belated westerner.

i'm a fan of clothes that have a full range of motion. if i absolutely must wear something restrictive, it should be north of business casual.

those kind of jeans are wholly impractical in the rainy northwest. see someone walking along with their hems shredded and dragging on the ground, and they've sponged water halfway up to the knees. all the street dirt, too. no thanks.

almost as bad as sagging (incidentally, the wiki is crazy on this):

In the fall of 2010 at Westside Middle School in Memphis, Tennessee, the policy on handling sagging pants is for students to pull them up or get "Urkeled", a reference to the character Steve Urkel of the 1990s television show Family Matters. In this practice, teachers would pull their pants up and attach them there using zip ties. Students would also have their photo taken and posted on a board in the hallway, for all of their classmates to see. In an interview with WMC-TV, Principal Bobby White stated that the general idea is to fight pop culture with pop culture.[25] One teacher at the school claimed to have "Urkeled" up to 80 students per week, although after five weeks students got the message, and the number dropped to 18.[26]
"grab your students by the pants." -administration

yikes
