The whole DOGE thing reminds me of when the U.S. government fired the entire Iraqi government and army after we took over. 20 years ago about. Time is truly a flat circle.

it feels very strange, from the outside, to be part of that bloc of nations which dutifully joined in on america's foreign misadventures of the last 25 years, and in the process underwent a process of mass class dealignment, popular disillusionment, etc. with politics (and left-centre politics in particular; new labour's foreign policy was the nail in its coffin) ... only to see america turn around and basically declare trade war on us.

our countries have all been dragged in the wake of the USA in its imperial phase (we had little other realistic choice), and even that has been for nothing. the decoupling, if it goes ahead, will do lasting and inter-generational damage. insulting british, french, canadian, etc. troops and things like that will be remembered by the average punter.

Britain offered its expertise on Vietnam (having dealt with Malaya) which was rejected.
Australia tried to help but realised everything the Americans were doing was counter-productive.

The US gave the UK minimal help during the Falklands, France gave immense help.

Iraq I, Afghanistan, Iraq 2 - so much stupid but Britain and Australia pitched in.

General Bonespur has really done a number.

It seems everything is transactional, yet none of the people involved are exactly business, financial etc experts.

Well its a bit mixed, they didn't supply any more during the war.

From what I remember it came out recently that they helped the Navy train for an Exocet attack, running dummy attacks on the fleet as they headed south.
I think they also helped the British locate and buy up any available Exocets around the world.

The deportation flight was in the air over Mexico when chaos erupted in the back of the plane, the flight attendant recalled. A little girl had collapsed. She had a high fever and was taking ragged, frantic breaths.

The flight attendant, a young woman who went by the nickname Lala, said she grabbed the plane’s emergency oxygen bottle and rushed past rows of migrants chained at the wrists and ankles to reach the girl and her parents.

By then, Lala was accustomed to the hard realities of working charter flights for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She’d learned to obey instructions not to look the passengers in the eyes, not to greet them or ask about their well-being. But until the girl collapsed, Lala had managed to escape an emergency.
lots more: https://www.propublica.org/article/insi … on-flights

if planes had oars, i guarantee the people being deported would be chained to them and whipped across the wrists until they put their backs into it.

My wife works in public health, she does research on child drowning. Not direct research mind you, but she handles data (spends her entire day in spreadsheets and databases) and teaches others on what to look out for (specific weather in specific States at times of year and whether or not there was a fence, etc etc. a million permutations of water and children dying but I digress).

She doesnt make much money but she likes what she does. Shes safe today because she works for a state agency, but shes nervous.

Thank god theyre coming for the fraud though amirite? Im excited for them to hand themselves any savings and for our taxes to go up next year.

I also find it ironic that the budget for doge is 40 million dollars

preventing avoidable child death is woke nonsense.
