it's kind of sad and sobering to think that entire zeitgeist is over. all those guys whose entire identities - understandably enough - were based on the bush II era and its wars. and now the world has turned and it was really all for nought. the middle east looks as fucked now as then, the geopolitical calculus has changed, nobody gives a shit how afghanistan or iraq are being ran or by whom. i have a better appreciation for how great war or vietnam war veterans must have felt returning to a society that had zero space for them, practically or conceptually.

Plant manager was a vet for a lot of my time at work so he wanted vets in management positions. He thought they would be better candidates, hardly. Pretty sure the new hire supervisor who locked himself in the bathroom to take drugs on his first day was a vet.

The only left leaning vet there was also the best.
