reassign my controls!

had to uninstall everything coz patch 1.3 and sf expansion messed everything up. at some point ea (coz for some stupid reason i contacted them for help) reset my player i.d. so i lost all my favourites and all my settings.

ever since then then i can not reassign my controls. i try to put 'steer left' on aircraft controls to my joystick and it says 'duplicate control found' or something like that. so i clear everything and it still won't let me change it.

any ideas?

i tried resetting to default before posting.

anyway, the problem has advanced and it has got stranger. i can input all my joystick commands apart from steer left/right which comes up as duplicate.

any more ideas?

it tellls you where the duplicate is found, press ESC when you find the dupe

ok, words of one syllable now considering everyone who has kindly replied thinks i am lacking a braincell or two.

i am inputting steer left or right in aircraft controls it comes up with 'duplicate key found in aircraft'. there is NO duplicate key. i have pressed escape on EVERY field under 'aircraft' and then gone to steer right/left and it STILL comes up duplicate key even when every field is empty!!! see above re pressing 'reset to default'. this also happens under 'helicopter' controls and it is really starting to annoy me!!!

however, it will let me input all the other controls (throttle, pitch forward/back, weapons etc etc) with my joystick APART FROM steer right/left which comes up as 'duplicate' even though there are NO duplicates?!?!?

help me!
