Sorry, Indian migrants with fake degrees and fraudulent CVs are just as competent as white people who have done rigourous study and have a solid track record of work.

Stop being racist.
i never said that his foreign visa employees were a lower grade of talent. i'm saying that 85% of his core staff have left. it wouldn't matter if those H1-Bs were the most talented people in the company, they simply can't cover it all.

but it's very telling the way you interpreted my quite innocuous and discrimination-free post. not everyone thinks like you, you silly racialised twerp.

The way he specifically put it is a bit much. "It's the life they chose," like a migrant worker is on par with a stereotypical drug deal went bad. The housebreaker who gets beaten up. "Call the ambulance … but not for me!"

Twitter is a very large entity that needs more than a few skillful programmers to keep float. There's not enough hardcore hours in the day for a small team to deal with the kinds of problems that would drag a billionaire in front of the government to explain themselves.

what is he doing for the environment? he purposefully derailled (pun intended) plans for california's high-speed railway. he has actively tried to scupper plans to increase public transport cover in the state of california so that he can continue to sell cars (boring tunnels and idiot hyperloops are just a distraction for news media).

what's good for the environment is increasing passenger numbers on trains and buses. not selling luxury sedans to geeks.
Tbf the high speed rail idea wasn't really a necessity because no one commutes to SF from LA or vice versa. We need to focus on high speed rails n shit in the greater LA area. his cars are legit helping save the planet tho just by nature of being EV altho it depends how the power is generated and the battery minerals are mined. We need to give him funding or support to focus on serious shit like expanding the boring tunnels and EV semi trucks etc. The guy is doing too much at once lol. He's doing all this along with with sci Fi brain shit (neuralink) and trying to get people on mars

I honestly don't know what his angle is at this point. I think he's just super arrogant and thinks he's a god. He already has so much money so that doesn't matter. It's just his image and possibly a sincere desire to actually help the world

no, you really don't need to give elon musk anymore government money and public subsidies to 'bore tunnels' for more car traffic. you are are deluded.

we've had unglamorous, unsexy, non-sci-fi things called trains and buses for over 100 years. they work. check out a european city once in a while.

Drooz, if the tyrannical way he treats his employees is any indication, I don't know about Musk having a sincere desire to help the world. He wants people to fawn all over him. Also, there is no way he's got his nose to the grindstone in all these companies. There is simply not enough time in the day. Taking credit for other people's work, sure. Not exactly a critical role.

Tesla doesn't have a monopoly on EVs. There was one point I was considering the brand, until I learned about its horrible build quality. Youtube is full of videos about how poor or just generally unaesthetic the detailing is. I'll shoot for a proven car mfg's offering, thanks.

I agree that it's challenging to connect where people live to where people work by rail. It would be so much easier if people could afford to live where they worked. I don't really understand why tunnels through earthquake-ridden lands would make the logistics any easier. Hyperloop seems to have been shelved, anyway.

hyperloop did its job, which was to draw oxygen away from public transportation plans in the state of california. it was a bauble to distract politicians and funnel money.

Of course.

Re: 'top-down' management, it's frustrating to complete projects for ignorant people who insist on being involved in every detail. I've blacklisted those kinds of clients with little pushback. There all day, looking over a task that should have taken a couple hours at most, while this guy kept spitballing wild what-ifs and talking up his STEM achievements. He didn't seem malicious about it or anything, but doesn't it sound familiar?

Previously at an unrelated job (design), icon pack for a company. Went through several hmms, hrms, and 'can we do it this other way,' with very little input or guidance as to what they actually wanted, before they either dropped the request or got someone else to finish up. I was never paid ('exposure,' lol). Imagine working at Twitter right now, 'hardcore hours,' having to keep up with Musk's screwball ideas and threat mailers without even 1% of the staff needed to keep up.

America was founded on slavery, most Americans are on one week's notice if they're lucky, abuse of illegal workers is tolerated across the board.

If people don't like it they shouldn't travel there.

“slavery ended hundreds of years ago, get over it”.

“america was founded on slavery so abusive workplace conditions are justified. if you don’t like it, go back to africa/india”.

pick one, honestly.

H-1B visa != illegal migrant labor. I don't know where dilbert gets that from. Why is he even pointing out America's history of slavery? It was all in the past, after all, and it irks him when people bring up Australian abuses. World-travelling dilbert has a bone to pick with fliers, migration.

Dilbs, the loss of so many people at Twitter is and will hinder its ability to function and respond to problems. It's already happening. It's not a black mark on remaining employees there that those who left took their networking and specializations with them (and left a vacuum). It's just how it is.

i used the phrase ‘sum-total’ to clearly denote the knowledge base, not that they’re of inferior quality.

America effectively has slavery now, with illegals routinely abused and H-1B visa holders treated like Qataris treat stadium-builders.

yes, those tunnels carrying 1 car is the most efficient mode of transport, imagine the fuel savings! if only someone can invent a technology that can fit more than 5 people into a car... what if its multiple cars running on rails in a tunnel, mein gott traffic will be solved!

It's almost as if I was making fun of your frequent reiteration that slavery is all in the past. Nice to see you're on board now, this soon after "it's the life they chose."

It's not exactly a good thing is it though, that people are using it as a platform to threaten and intimidate.

no, i meant skills. the number of people still there are a tiny proportion. people on H1-B visas necessarily aren’t very senior or experienced, either; those people have, you know, better visas.

musk has caused an exodus of all the staff in his company who essentially have the option to take their labour elsewhere. i didn’t say anything about the remaining people being bad at their jobs. least of all because of their race and ‘fake resumés’. this is your usual bullshit.

you karma’s me ‘nice casual racism’ where there was none. meanwhile you low-key celebrate the heir of an apartheid fortune who is consistently against worker rights and all for asking people to ‘hardcore’ for his white man’s gain. but okay i’m the one who is introducing suspect ethics via the backdoor.

i work with and interact with teams in india everyday. don’t project when accusing me of casual racism. i treat my colleagues with respect. you are a toxic little slug.

the CEO absolutely does not have the expertise to single-handedly run a publishing house. LMAO what the fuck are you smoking. you think the CEO has an expert grasp of copy-editing, typesetting, legal and copyright permissions, graphic design, web infrastructure and databases/archiving/indexing, marketing, current trends in AI and machine/deep learning, institutional politics and current debates around open access, etc? and this is a relatively medium-tech publishing house, not fucking rocket science.

you buying into the genius polymath narrative is just sad dweeby nerd wish fulfilment in your part. elon is a boardroom and funding round grifter. that’s his skill set.

Honestly, screw working "hardcore" for any corporation. Your loyalty will not be reciprocated. It sucks that some people are effectively trapped at Twitter with Musk and his bullwhip.
