Personally I couldn't give a crap about the 'royal' family, a bunch of german squatters basically.

I am glad the British political system does not have a completely redundant level of bureaucracy in a President, nor does Britain have to go through two out of every four years paralysed by the circus of choosing the next deranged or doddering figurehead who can't then be unseated whatever they do.

The best thing would be if the 'royals' could just fade away, to be replaced with - nothing at all.

Here all the has-been politicians are rubbing their hands at the idea of Australia becoming a republic - which will achieve nothing except to give them another shot at doing nothing useful.
Aus also doesn't need another useless layer, could be two soon, of govt. Pretty well nothing gets done as it is.

A few nights ago I ended up at a bar which had live music on, made friends with the guys who were playing and eventually the friends that I came with left. I spent a couple of hours with these new guys who I later realised turned out to be in their very early 20s. Apparently I gave them my number and they're texting me about raves and shit, if I met them sober they would think I was a different person.

When are you gonna be in LA?

I'm going to Vegas for a weekend in November so might extend the trip and come over then. Haven't been to LA for aaages.

I'm in Chicago next week to see a friend who now needs to come to London for work so I've got almost a week in the US with no plans now. Was thinking of going over to Toronto as I've never been.

story of my life out here. if i ever go to hongdae or gangnam i end up with about 5 early 20-something's kakao in my phone the next day. feels like fucking fresher's week.

In 2019 I met a random Korean guy at a pub in London while drunk and started talking in Korean to him, we had a great time. He'd just graduated as a doctor.

'Language exchange' stuff has off and on been one of my favorite things with internet voice chat. A lot of people really self-conscious about their attempts at English are surprised when I tell them they have better enunciation than many Americans.

Chat like that's probably much more confidence-building than being chewed out by some mono-lingual native English speaking rando because you have an accent. Indian guy on the phone trying his best, out come the sighs and the eye rolls and the raised voices. Maybe stop treating people like dirt, and they'll be more inclined to help. Sheesh.

It is really annoying going to the airport and none of the workers speak English. Might just a thing in major metro areas. The pay must really suck if they can only staff it with people who don't have any English speaking skills.

One drove me to the airport but I told them to leave me at a different terminal because I didn't want them to know what plane I was taking.
