Looks like a hell of a CPU.  I wonder what AMD is coming up with to counter it.

Is there a certain way to remove the existing thermal grease or do you just kinda scratch it off with your finger?  My processor won't have a heatsink with it, do you think it'll come with a tube of thermal grease?

if its a boxed cpu it should come with some paste, as for taking off the previous paste, it should be relativly easy to do with a soft cloth or a kleenex( unless its one of those damn pads)

I think it was a pad because when I looked at it, it was a perfectly square area on the heatsink.

Is it easy to apply to the CPU and heatsink?

Ok,

First off, to remove the thermal paste, I use 99% Isopropyl alcohol. 70% works good, and even the lower concentrations are ok.

As far as adding the new thermal paste, you want to put about the size of a  grain of rice. Then I suggest using a credit card etc to thin it out over the Die. (silver part) Just spread it out so that it is as thin as a piece of paper. You do not need to get every little corner, etc. Just keep it thin!

I wonder what's taking it so long to get here.  I chose regular shipping but I didn't think it would still be this slow.

Actually I chose UPS ground.  Either way, this shipping is slow as ass.

IT'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!!  But I can't even be excited because it didn't come with any thermal grease.  I forgot to tell you guys that it's OEM.

O.K. nevermind.  My dad had this old multipurpose thermal paste that he used back when he was building and selling old stuff like from the Pentium 1 era.  It works fine too, I definately noticed a change in sound and graphics, the sound is blasting now and it sounds better too.  The graphics look more rich and colorful.  It trys SO hard to screw me over and get choppy, nope, how do ya like that stupid motherfucker comp, no more heavy chopping anymore.  Overall I like it, the remaining issues with lag are probably caused by the 512MB of RAM.

Actually conroe is 80% all new architecture, not really based on p3, more on core duo
